Cypress Selects Silicon Optixs Realta HQV Video Processor to Power Scaler Solution for Mainstream Consumer

San Jose, CA–(January 7, 2008)–Silicon Optix, the leader in advanced video processors, announces that Cypress will use REALTA HQV to power its new scaler solution, aptly named Instant HQV HD Scaler. This outboard processor is the perfect companion for any home theater owner who wants to take advantage of Silicon Optix’s award-winning video processing, delivering the ultimate home theater experience. The Instant HQV Scaler box enables consumers to upgrade their home theater visual performance significantly without replacing their current HDTV display, making it a very cost effective solution.

“The Realta HQV video processor delivers extraordinary performance in video deinterlacing and scaling, and is the best choice for our new flagship product,” said Frank Chye, Vice General Manager for Cypress. “Thanks to its incredible processing power, our scaler provides a true cinematic experience every time you turn it on. ”

Silicon Optix’s Emmy award winning HQV processing delivers the sharpest and most detailed HD images possible by utilizing features such as true 1080i-to-1080p HD deinterlacing, and a sophisticated multidirectional diagonal filter that ensures video free from jagged edges. HQV also does an incredible job of making SD material approach HD quality by employing advanced scaling, per-pixel detail enhancement, and noise reduction technology that removes noise and artifacts caused by compression.

“Cypress has created a cost-effective scaler solution, bringing the power of HQV to the mainstream consumer. We’re proud that it bears the HQV name,” said Jim Mannos, President and CEO of Silicon Optix.

The Instant HQV Scaler box offers an extensive set of selectable input and output ports. This includes dual HDMI 1.3 input ports, component, S-video and composite input ports, as well as an HDMI 1.3 output port and additional component output port for easy connection to any digital television.
