CheckPoint HR’s Web-based Platform Provides the HR Rx for Kyowa Pharmaceutical, Inc.

Edison, NJ (August 29, 2007) — CheckPoint HR, LLC, an innovator and leading Administrative Service Organization (ASO) that offers small- to mid-size organizations an integrated Human Resource Management System (HRMS) for human resources, payroll services and benefits administration, today announced that Kyowa Pharmaceutical, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Kyowa Hakko, is automating its HR functions using the CheckPoint HR HRMS platform. Kyowa Hakko is the second largest life sciences company in Japan with 6,000 employees globally and 80 in its US headquarters in Princeton, NJ.

Kyowa’s previous payroll provider was a large organization that offered a solution with limited customer service levels and was not adequate for its needs. According to Kyowa Pharmaceutical, Inc. HR Director Raj Sinha, the company preferred a solution that provided a robust and scalable technology platform. Kyowa needed to streamline all HR-business critical applications, including payroll and benefits administration via a Web-based portal offering employee self-service and various online training programs.

“Beyond the pure automation of our payroll and HR functions, CheckPoint HR offered the added value of online learning and self-service capabilities that were not available from our previous provider,” said Sinha. “We now have an employee Intranet built on the CheckPoint HR system that also features e-newsletters, company policies, employee handbook, company-wide forms and much more.”

Kyowa selected the CheckPoint Plus premium service offering that offers a full suite of applications for payroll, human resources, employee benefits, employee assistance programs, training and recruiting. With CheckPoint HR, Kyowa’s employee-sensitive payroll data is never purged; this information can be retrieved for past years as well.

Open Enrollment is another aspect of the CheckPoint HR portal that Kyowa is benefiting from. This feature allows employees 24/7 access to all pertinent employee benefits information, including, plan summaries for various options, per payroll employee contributions in Health, Dental, Life, LTD, FSA, 401k another other programs the company offers. The employer can also clearly communicate the full value of its Employee Benefits Program. Open Enrollment saves the HR department time as employee elections are automatically updated in the system, removing any need for HR to re-input information.

“We instantly demonstrated to Kyowa the value and efficiencies of an integrated HR solution designed to manage its increasing payroll, benefits and HR administrative functions that could scale with its growth in the US,” said Michael Bock, CheckPoint HR partner. “After researching a number of vendors, we emerged as the logical choice, especially with our expansive self-service capabilities and online training. The Kyowa HR team has especially been pleased with the ease of use of the HRMS portal, in addition to our personalized level of service.”
