BROADVIEW, IL (8/16/04) — Blaupunkt has introduced two new car stereo models in its premium Skyline series, with fully graphic animated displays, compatibility with MP3-encoded CDs, and the ability to automatically calibrate sound output to suit any car. The Seattle MP74 and Los Angeles MP74 each feature the company’s exclusive Digiceiver all-digital tuner, DEQ Max five-band parametric EQ, high quality CD transport, and CD Changer controls.
The radios each feature Blaupunkt’s DEQ Max circuitry, which includes a powerful five-band parametric EQ, and advanced processing circuitry to allow the unit’s sound to be tailored to individual car interiors. For automatic self-calibration, the included calibrated microphone is used to interpret the car’s acoustic characteristics, and the radio then automatically sets corrective equalization to the output, providing more accurate reproduction. Up to three separate automatic EQ profiles can be saved for the vehicle, for optimal reproduction for just a single driver, for the front seats, or for all four seats. The EQ can also manually adjusted and set with both individual settings, and using the factory presets.
Blaupunkt’s DigiCeiver all-digital tuner completely digitizes incoming radio signals, allowing it to use advanced digital processing techniques for dramatically improved reception quality from conventional AM and FM transmissions. The tuner’s SHARX digital filters provide adaptive channel separation, suppressing interference from neighboring stations in the FM band to a degree not possible with analog tuners.
The Los Angeles MP74 features Blaupunkt’s VarioColor display system which allows for individual adjustment of red, green, and blue component of the screen lighting for infinitely variable display color. The Seattle MP74 display features a crisp, white LCD graphic display against a black background. Menu-driven controls on each radio can be used to adjust brightness, display angle, full-spectrum EQ display, and a powerful suite of setup and custom options like turn-on volume and mute level.
Like all models in the Skyline range, the Los Angeles and Seattle feature motorized flip-down steel faceplates that are detachable for theft protection. Each also includes CD changer controls and AUX inputs accommodate additional sources, while low-impedance, four-channel preamplifier and subwoofer outputs allow for a wide range of configuration options.
The Settle MP74 is currently available at a suggested retail price of $529.95. The Los Angeles MP74 is currently available at a suggested retail price of $579.95.
