BenQ Debuts TK705 Series 4K Lifestyle Projectors for Big-Screen Streaming and Gaming

For under $2,000 BenQ’s TK705i and TK705STi 4K projectors deliver up to 150-inches of bright, low-lag home entertainment. But what’s different?

BenQ TK705i and TK705sti 4K UHD Entertainment Projectors

Following the launch of its premium W4100i home theater projector, BenQ is doubling down on the booming lifestyle projector market with the new TK705i and TK705STi. Designed for real-world living rooms rather than light-controlled theaters, these 4K models bring high brightness, accurate color, and smarter setup to the growing number of consumers who want big-screen entertainment without the hassle.

As demand for flexible, high-performance projectors continues to rise, BenQ’s TK705 Series aims to hit the sweet spot between performance, convenience, and affordability. Building on the success of the TK710 series, BenQ’s new TK705i and TK705STi projectors are built for everything from movie nights and sports watch parties to casual multiplayer gaming with family and friends.

Setting up the TK705i and TK705STi for tabletop viewing is straightforward with BenQ’s optional ST30 projector stand ($99), which features a durable 5mm curved metal arm, a solid metal base, and anti-slip silicone pads for added stability. For smaller rooms or tighter setups, the TK705STi offers a short-throw configuration capable of projecting sharp, cinema-quality images from 100 to 150 inches at a distance of just 5.8 to 8.7 feet from the wall.

Key Features & Specifications

4K UHD Resolution: The TK705i and TK705STi utilize a 0.47-inch 1080p DLP imaging chip (DMD – Digital Micromirror Device) from Texas Instruments with 2.1 million mirrors. Through advanced pixel-shifting technology, the projectors display the full 8.3 million pixels required for true 4K UHD resolution, delivering sharp, detailed images well beyond standard HD.

DLP 4K Pixel Shifting

4K Pixel-Shifting Technology: To achieve full 4K UHD resolution, the 1080p DLP chip shifts its pixels both vertically and horizontally at 240Hz—240 times per second. This rapid movement creates the perception of 8.3 million distinct pixels, producing an image that meets the visual standard of true 4K on-screen.

LED Light Source: While many premium projectors have transitioned to laser illumination, BenQ equips the TK705 Series with a high-performance LED light engine. Like laser systems, the LED design delivers vibrant color reproduction, long operational life, and excellent energy efficiency, making it an ideal solution for everyday home entertainment.

The BenQ TK705i and TK705STi projectors look the same.

High Brightness: The TK705 Series delivers up to 3,000 ANSI lumens of white light output, ensuring bright, vivid images even in rooms with moderate ambient lighting. While the projectors can produce images up to 300 inches, BenQ recommends a maximum optimized screen size of 150 inches for the best balance of brightness, color accuracy, and clarity.

BenQ CinematicColor and HDR-PRO: The TK705 Series delivers 98% Rec. 709 color accuracy, ensuring faithful, lifelike colors. HDR-PRO technology enhances this further by providing greater depth, sharper detail, and optimized brightness for both HDR content and varying room lighting conditions.

Plug-and-Play Setup: With 8-way Smart Image Adaptation, the TK705 Series makes big-screen setup quick and effortless. Features include Optical Motorized/Digital Zoom, Auto 2D Keystone, Auto Focus, Auto Cinema Mode, and more, allowing users to achieve perfectly aligned images in seconds.

Flexible Connectivity: The TK705 Series offers both wired and wireless options, including USB-C with 30W power delivery and Bluetooth 5.2. This makes it easy to connect soundbars, smartphones, laptops, and gaming consoles without the need for extra dongles or adapters, streamlining setup for any home entertainment environment.

Low-Lag Gaming: While not targeted at hardcore gamers, the TK705 Series still delivers responsive gameplay on consoles like the PS5, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch. With HDMI 2.1, ALLM support, and ultra-low input lag of just 5 ms at 4K/60Hz, it ensures fast, fluid action for casual and family gaming sessions.

Control Options: The TK705 Series projectors come with a “standard” wireless remote control, but BenQ also provides access to a free control app that you can download to your smartphone. The app is available for both iOS and Android.

Smart TV Integration: Unlike the earlier TK710 Series, the TK705 projectors feature built-in Wi-Fi and Google TV OS. This enables immediate access to popular streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube right out of the box. Users can also connect additional sources, including Blu-ray players or gaming consoles, for a complete home entertainment experience.

From Jeffrey Hsieh, Director and Head of Consumer Business Line at BenQ:Consumers value brightness, picture quality, and easy installation features when it comes to their home entertainment, and we continue to deliver leading solutions that meet these needs…From streaming movies to casual gameplay, the TK705i and TK705STi are the latest in our lineup of popular projectors designed to add even more versatility for home living spaces by adapting instantly to any setup while still delivering impeccable 4K image quality at any time of day.”

The Bottom Line

The BenQ TK705i and TK705STi deliver versatile, high-quality 4K home entertainment for movies, shows, and casual gaming. Their high brightness allows for use in both dark and moderately lit rooms—even outdoors—while HDMI 2.1 and low input lag support smooth console gaming. The TK705STi adds short-throw capability for tighter spaces, making it more flexible than the standard TK705i.

On the downside, these projectors are not aimed at hardcore gamers or dedicated home theater enthusiasts, and while bright, they may not match the absolute color depth or contrast of higher-end laser models. For anyone seeking a convenient, all-around lifestyle projector with solid performance and smart features, the TK705 Series is a strong, practical choice.

Price & Availability

Bonus Offer: Through October 31, consumers can complete a “Find Your Watch Party Style” quiz on BenQ.com to receive a 10% off code for the TK705i and TK705STi.
