Waterproof, All-Weather Speakers Bring Storied Axiom Sound Quality To Patio, Poolside, or Deck; Available in Four Finishes

Axiom Audio, a world leader in quality loudspeaker manufacturing, today announced the debut of its new Algonquin outdoor speaker line. Suitable for installation in any outdoor location, Axiom Audio’s compact Algonquin speakers deliver the company’s renowned full-range, exquisitely transparent sound wherever people play, party or simply relax outdoors. And because it’s waterproof, the Algonquin speaker can even do duty in interior bathrooms or any indoor location that’s subject to high humidity.

Axiom Audio Algonquin speakers are based on the company’s M3 bookshelf unit, winner of the SoundStage! Reviewer’s Choice Award and GoodSound! Product of the Year. Comprised of a 1″ titanium tweeter and 6.5″ aluminum woofer, each speaker provides crystal clear, high-fidelity response, from the deepest bass to the subtlest high frequencies. The 13.5″H x 8.5″W x 8.25″D cabinets are sized for optimal sound output, yet are small enough to be unobtrusively mounted under eaves, atop posts or on patio walls.

“For some time, Axiom has promised its loyal customers a durable, high performance outdoor speaker. We believe our new Algonquin product satisfies the high standards we’ve set,” said Ian Colquhoun, president and chief designer of Axiom Audio. “Each speaker is designed to provide years of reliable use without compromising on the accurate, clean sound for which Axiom is famous. The Algonquin speaker is a perfect solution for all the outside places where friends, family or guests spend quality time–and wish to enjoy beautiful audio.”

Algonquin units feature an anechoic SPL of 88 dB (1w/1m), with an in-room SPL of 92 dB. The speaker’s frequency response of 60 Hz-22 kHz at +/-3 dB (50 Hz- 22 kHz at +3 dB/-9 dB), enhanced by Axiom’s signature Anti-Standing Wave wedge-shaped cabinet design, ensures breathtaking sound reproduction across the audio spectrum.

Wind, Moisture, Pest Resistant
Axiom Audio’s Algonquin outdoor speaker is built tough to withstand any outdoor challenge. The all-plastic cabinet is braced throughout for impact resistance, and features a special UV-inhibiting clear coating atop its automotive-quality enamel finish to resist years of exposure to harsh sunlight.

To seal against rain, snow and ice, the Algonquin is fully waterproofed at each seam. The unit’s rear bass port is angled upward inside the cabinet to prevent water from entering; the port is also screened to make sure bass sounds get out, but without allowing pests in.

All binding posts on the Algonquin are gold-plated and covered in plastic to prevent rust. The plastic/metal grille ensures that the speaker’s premium-quality drivers are protected from the elements, while the high-impact plastic housing around the unit’s rear cable inputs offers additional protection.

Range of Colors
To complement most exterior color schemes, the Algonquin speaker comes in four architectural finishes–Arctic White, Almond Bisque, Cape Cod Grey, or Spiced Rum. Algonquin speakers can also be owner-painted to match specific structural colors and ensure a sleek, invisible look.

Axiom Audio Algonquin speakers include a threaded mounting receptacle that accepts most speaker brackets including the company’s Full Metal Bracket. For horizontal mounting situations, Axiom’s Ceiling Bracket can be used.

Pricing and Availability
Axiom Audio’s Algonquin outdoor speakers are priced at $330 (USD) per pair. Sales price includes all taxes and free delivery in the U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico; Canadians receive free delivery (sales tax not included).
