3D Wireless PC-to-TV Gaming Solution Delivers In-Room and Multi-Room Wireless HD 1080p and 3D Gaming Video

AMIMON and ASUS announced today the WAVI 3D wireless PC-to-TV solution. ASUS' WAVI is based on AMIMON's WHDI (Wireless Home Digital Interface) technology; it enables consumers to wirelessly connect their desktop and tower PC to their TVs. It's the first such product capable of wirelessly distributing 3D content from a PC to a TV. The WAVI systems will be available in Q1 2011.

The ASUS WAVI system enables consumers to view the entire content of their PC screen on the TV, and includes a virtual USB link for users to wirelessly control a study room PC while in the living room. This is the first and exclusive benefit in the market, allowing users to easily enjoy or share their PC multimedia or online content from the comfort of their couch.

“The AMIMON based WAVI solution by ASUS will change the landscape of 3D PC gaming in the home by allowing consumers to experience state-of-the-art 3D PC gaming video graphics on their high-quality3D big screen TVs,” said David Shefler, vice president of sales and business development for AMIMON. “WHDI continues to be the leading wireless HD video standard for connecting desktop, notebook and tablet PCs to the TV with multiple accessory and embedded products already shipping and many more expected in 2011.”

“We wanted to develop a solution that enables consumers to wirelessly connect a PC in another room to the TV in order to play uncompressed HD 3D games on the big screen. AMIMON's WHDI technology is the only technology that combines the very low latency required for playing 3D games and watching 3D videos with multi-room functionality,” said Kent Chien, general manager Multimedia Business Unit & Opto-Mechatronic Applied Product Business Unit at ASUS. “We look forward to continuing to develop more high-performance wireless video products taking advantage of WHDI technology's low latency and in-room and multi-room capabilities.”

AMIMON's wireless technology is the basis of the WHDI (Wireless Home Digital Interface) standard. The WHDI standard delivers the highest image quality in-room and multi-room HD wireless link, including uncompressed 1080p/60Hz HD video. WHDI utilizes a 40MHz channel in the 5GHz unlicensed band. WHDI includes support for all 3D formats required by the HDMI 1.4a specification and range of over 100 feet, through walls. WHDI supports HDCP revision 2.0, providing superior security and digital content protection, and full compatibility with HDMI.
