Adder Announces Availability of Multimedia Extenders for Management of Digital Signage and Media Streaming Applications

NEWBURYPORT, MA — October 1, 2007 — Adder, a leading developer of KVM switches, extenders and IP solutions, today announced the availability of the AdderLink AV200 Series range of modular audiovisual extenders.

The AdderLink AV200 Series of audiovisual extenders delivers crisp, clear and bright video, as well as CD quality stereo audio across installations up to 300m/1000ft. The innovative design allows for flexible audiovisual distribution, management, control and interaction with display devices and can be expanded to grow inline with project development. With full RS232 support to control and manipulate remote video display panels and supporting resolutions up to HD1080p, the AV200 series is the ideal professional narrowcast digital signage solution.

“Adder has always ensured that our products provide superb quality video and audio for the digital signage market,” said Richard Cawdery, Adder’s Product Manager. “However, the ability of the AdderLink AV200 Series to communicate with up to 64 screens individually or collectively from a single RS232 interface brings a new level of digital signage display management to this market.”

Adder DM (Display Manager) software is supplied with the AV200 series. This advanced application allows for control of parameters such as display power, video and audio of individual screens, groups of screens or all screens. Due to Adder’s ‘Open Architecture’ policy, any 3rd party signage control system can be used across the AV200 series.

In the past, management of display screens could be difficult when using analog video and audio over CATx for digital signage applications. Adder solves this problem with the unique way in which it has integrated transparent RS232 into the AdderLink AV200 series. A user can now power screens on and off individually, by group or collectively, and automate all this from the play out device. For example, in a retail environment all screens can be turned on at 8.30 a.m. when the store opens and most switched off at 6 p.m. when the store closes, leaving the displays in the windows on until 11 p.m. This scheduling can be defined per day to reflect the needs of the customer’s location.
There are five components of the AdderLink AV200 series; three transmitters – a single, a four way and an eight way video/audio/RS232 transmitter with a local or cascade port and two receivers with two video/audio/RS232 outputs with or without Skew correction. Both the transmitter and receiver units can standalone or be rack mounted into the AdderLink AV Series 3U rack mount chassis using an optional rack mount faceplate.

Adder audiovisual extenders are widely used in retail, hospitality, and public information digital signage installations. The AdderLink AV200 Series is available immediately through distribution partners and resellers. Additional information can be found at: AdderLink AV200 Series
