In support of our expanding music, home theater, audio, video and CI (Custom Install) coverage, we are pleased to announce the addition of two respected industry veterans to the eCoustics team.

Mark Smotroff will spearhead our reporting on new music releases and reissues, including the wave of immersive and spatial audio music, whilst John Sciacca will demystify the complexity of DIY home theater projects as well as custom installed audio, video and smart home solutions.

“As eCoustics nears its 25th anniversary, our editorial team has grown to its largest point ever. I’m honored to welcome Mark and John into our family,” announced eCoustics Founder & CEO, Brian Mitchell.

About Mark Smotroff

Mark Smotroff is an avid music enthusiast who has previously contributed to Analog Planet, Audiophile Review, Sound+Vision, EQ, Mix, Goldmine/DISCoveries, Big Picture Big Sound, HomeTheaterReview.com, Cineluxe.com, and many others. He’s a deep music collector and active vinyl “crate digger,” who considers himself something of an “everyman audiophile.” Mark is also a musician / composer whose songs have been featured in TV shows such as “Smallville” and “Men In Trees” as well as in independent films and documentaries.

About John Sciacca

John Sciacca is an ISF and THX certified custom installer with Custom Theater and Audio in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where he started in 1998 and continues working today. From the early 2000s, John has contributed to Sound & Vision, Residential Systems, Digital Trends, and Men’s Health.

“Mark and John bring with them decades of experience and a strong track record of producing excellent content that readers will not find anywhere else going forward. Their additions to our team will allow us to produce unique content each month that will benefit our readership (foremost), as well as increasing exposure to the manufacturers, products and artists that they cover,” explained eCoustics Editor-in-Chief, Ian White.

“I’ve worked closely with Mark both in his PR days and as a writer for Big Picture Big Sound and found him to be the consummate professional in both roles. He has a clear passion for music and sound,” says eCoustics Editor-at-Large Chris Boylan. “And as for John, well he’s the kind of guy you hope shows up at the after-hour trade show parties as he livens up a room with his hilarious stories and infectious enthusiasm. Just don’t take him on at pickleball because that won’t end well (for you). They are both great additions to the eCoustics team.”
