The $2500 Sennheiser AMBEO soundbar has been available since 2019. In 2021, an update was implemented that made the AMBEO compatible with Sony’s 360 Reality Audio format.
For 2022, Sennheiser has decided to make using the AMBEO Soundbar easier by adding the AMBEO|OS along with a complete update to the AMBEO Smart Control App.
AMBEO OS
The AMBEO|OS expands the Soundbar ecosystem by adding new functions, elevating the user experience.
The OS supports Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and Tidal Connect, providing more listening options.
Tip: The AMBEO Soundbar already has Chromecast Built-in.
The AMBEO|OS has also been optimized to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience by utilizing Wi-Fi rather than Bluetooth Low Energy to connect to the Sennheiser Smart Control app. This makes the user experience faster and more responsive. The AMBEO|OS also ensures greater security and stability.
AMBEO|OS can be accessed through the newly updated Smart Control app. The all-new app provides a more personal, relevant, and rewarding intuitive user experience
Smart Control App
In addition to the AMBEO soundbar, Smart Control allows users to access new features to improve the functionality of Sennheiser headphones, such as:
Sound Check: This feature guides users through three easy steps to find the perfect EQ preset according to their tastes.
Sound Zones: This allows True Wireless earbud users to tailor EQ settings, Noise Cancellation, and Transparent Hearing to defined places at the home, office, or on the go and dynamically adjust audio settings according to the user’s location.
Personalization: User accounts make it easier to transfer settings and customizations between Sennheiser devices. In addition, in-app Discovery provides product news and updates from the Sennheiser world.
The Smart Control app also includes:
- Intuitive audio equalizer
- Access to digital user manuals
- Provides the latest software and firmware for Sennheiser consumer products.
Beyond the App
In addition to the Smart Control app, AMBEO Soundbars can also be controlled by a dedicated web interface. The interface provides the control options in the app without the need to pull out your smartphone. No illustrations or instructions on that feature were provided for this article.
The free software and firmware update will go live to all Smart Control App users and AMBEO Soundbars beginning on March 29, 2022.
