Bang & Olufsen Announces The 2nd Edition Ferrari Collection: Preview

Bang & Olufsen expands its Ferrari Collection with an ultra luxury TV, soundbar and active loudspeaker.

Bang & Olufsen Ferrari Collection 2024

Bang & Olufsen has introduced its second collaboration with Ferrari that is a blend of Danish industrial design with an Italian flair. The 2nd Edition Ferrari Collection is more subtle in its execution with only a hint of red.

Bang & Olufsen’s design for this second collection integrates Ferrari’s charcoal Grigio Corsa, combined with a striking shade of red for the connection Bang & Olufsen’s first Ferrari collection launched in 2023.

For the second go-around, the renowned audio maker has given the Ferrari treatment to the following products:

  • Beolab 50 Active Speaker: $95,000
  • Beosound Theatre Soundbar: $18,000
  • Beovision Theatre TV: $25,000

From Bang & Olufsen CEO Kristian Teär: “Both Ferrari and Bang & Olufsen have always strived for the most powerful experience possible in the pursuit of unstoppable performance. For our second collection together, we wanted to pay tribute to aluminum, which is a hallmark material of both our brands…The result is pioneering sound and vision that blurs the line between Italian passion and Danish elegance”.

Ferrari Sports Car

Bang & Olufsen’s design team wanted to echo the internal details of Ferrari’s legendary sports cars by ‘looking under the hood’ to create hidden design elements.

The Beolab 50 Speaker incorporates Ferrari’s iconic split line anodized in red to reference the brand’s signature red racing lines.

The single red lamella cuts a dash through the black fabric that wraps the speaker. This design detail contrasts with the precision-milled Grigio Corsa aluminum lamellas on each side of the speaker, reflecting light with a metallic gleam.

When the Acoustic Lens of the Beolab 50 Speaker rises, listeners discover the intense Ferrari red lens. The top cover of the lens features Ferrari’s Prancing Horse logo laser engraved, alongside the Bang & Olufsen logo.

The Beosound Theatre Soundbar Ferrari Edition is crafted in Grigio Corsa aluminum and is designed to attract attention where the curve of the keel-like shape slices through the air. Bang & Olufsen‘s logo is silk screen printed on the glass top while the laser-engraved Ferrari Prancing Horse shows from aluminum wings.

The Beovision Theatre TV Ferrari Edition is crafted entirely from aluminum, anodized in the Grigio Corsa color, from the lamellas to the frame. The different textured finishes of the aluminum create shadows and contours resulting in an expressive product that can still blend into the home. Behind the lamellas, the tweeter ring anodized in red glints from the shadows.

When turned on, the speaker’s Acoustic Lens rises from the top setting the stage for a spacious listening experience.

With the adjustable acoustic lens, Beolab 50 can alter its sound delivery via Beam Width Control. When listening alone, the lens contracts to send a direct sound beam to create a sweet spot. With a house full of guests, the lens opens for a room-filling performance

Active Room Compensation measures the acoustical behavior of your room and the placement of your speakers. The data is used to create a custom set of filters for your Beolab 50, tailored to your space so you can enjoy music the way it was meant to be heard exactly as the artist intended.

The Beolab 50 provides intuitive, straightforward controls that make it easy to access all of the speaker’s features. It can be controlled with Beoremote One BT, Beoremote Halo, or the Bang & Olufsen App for Android and iOS.

Bottom Line

Bang & Olufsen is known as much for its innovative design as well as exceptional product performance and the Ferrari Collection continues that philosophy. If you own a Ferrari sports car or like the idea of adding some Ferrari spice to your home decor, you might be attracted to the cutting-edge colors and design of the Bang & Olufsen Ferrari Collection. However, keep in mind that the Ferrari color and design touches are the star of this collection, there is nothing new in terms of the performance of these previously released products. Also, they carry a higher price tag than their already available non-Ferrari Collection counterparts.

So how many Ferrari owners will buy any of this stuff? Compared to the golden era of B&O this is really disappointing. The design is ostentatious, and not in a good way. It’s obvious and the pricing is pretty laughable. Are those speaker enclosures actually made of plastic? Geez.

Not a fan of the color scheme. B&O should have gone with the traditional Ferrari red or yellow. I showed this to a relative who has been a Ferrari owner for 40 years and they didn’t find it all that sexy.

B&O is actually making some really good products right now, and whilst I understand the collaboration and branding theme here — it makes more sense to stick with the stock units.
