Marantz SR6006 and SR5006 3D A/V Receivers

Marantz announced the SR6006 and SR5006 3D A/V receivers, which replace their flagship SR7005 A/V receiver from last year. Both the SR6006 and SR5006 receivers inherit the best genes of their precursor, and share its highly acclaimed Marantz product design with the distinctive lines and circular display.

Fully equipped for the 'connected home', both AV receivers feature an on-board Ethernet port allowing for audio streaming from home networks as well as subscription-based web-services, and giving access to over 14,000 Internet radio stations worldwide. The newcomers even have AirPlay functionality built-in, letting users unleash their iTunes or iPhone/iPod touch/iPad music libraries to the AV receivers. Thanks to the network connection the AV receivers can easily be controlled, via Apple iDevices, through the free Marantz Wizz App.

The new SR6006 is powerful. Very powerful — 7 x 110-watt rms to be exact. Combined with high-quality audio processing this stylish box of AV armoury creates a devastatingly convincing cinematic experience. That is partly because the digital audio signal – up to Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD – is fed via one of the seven 3D supporting HDMI 1.4 inputs. The two available HDMI outputs are working simultaneously. In addition, the system's Audyssey Dynamic Volume control ensures that the sound remains at the same level even when a commercial interrupts. Also, the video up-scaling of analogue and digital video signals up to 1080p brings out the best of existing SD quality sources such as DVD, game consoles or even VHS. In addition, for added 'new media' compatibility the SR6006 includes an iPod-digital-compatible USB input. To ensure you get the best possible audio from compressed files on iPod via USB, the SR6006 incorporates the M-DAX2 — Marantz Dynamic Expander version two. This neat little addition also optimizes the quality of MP3 files from either CD or the optional Bluetooth receiver RX101. Everything sounds clearer, more detailed, and more alive. Last but not least, the SR6006 has a Phono input to serve as the perfect stereo entertainment centre. What's more, set-up, optimization and operation are all quick and easy — with the Audyssey MultEQ XT, an intuitive-to-use graphic user interface as well as the new Setup Wizard for convenient installation.

Marantz SR5006 A/V Receiver

The younger brother SR5006 provides 7 x 100-watt rms, has decoders for standard as well as Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio, and comes with six HDMI 1.4 inputs — making it immediately ready for 3D video and the ARC (audio return channel) from capable TVs. It easily handles the most demanding of scenes in action films, as well as offering excellent-quality music playback, thanks to the advanced Marantz audio technologies taken from the SR6006. It also comes with a whole host of convenience features such as “auto set-up” with Audyssey MultiEQ and Dynamic Volume, multiroom with multi-source flexibility, and “video-off” mode to ensure movies and music are enjoyed in true dynamic Marantz style.
