The Apple TV App is Now Available for Android Phone Users

Android phone users can now download the Apple TV app to subscribe to Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass.

Apple TV+ on Android Phone and Tablet

Since its debut in 2019, Apple TV+ (via the Apple TV app) has become available on a wide range of devices beyond just the Apple TV box, iPhones, iPads, and the Apple Vision Pro; it can be found on Samsung, LG, Vizio, and Sony smart TVs, Roku Fire TV, and even the PlayStation and Xbox. It has even been available on the Android TV OS, but up to this point, it has not been available for use on Android smart phones.

However, as of February 12, 2025, Android phone users can now download and install the Apple TV app on their phones and watch what it has to offer on the go.

Apple TV Devices

Android users can download the app from the Google Play store. The Apple TV+ subscription fee is currently $9.99 per month.

Apple TV+ offers original shows such as Severance, Slow Horses, The Morning Show, Presumed Innocent, Shrinking, Hijack, Loot, Palm Royale, Masters of the Air, and Ted Lasso. On the original movie side, there are titles such as Wolfs, The Instigators, The Family Plan, Killers of the Flower Moon, and CODA.

Apple TV+ also includes Friday Night Baseball — a weekly Major League Baseball double-header with no local broadcast restrictions. For 2025, Apple TV+ subscribers can also enjoy Sunday Night Soccer, a weekly primetime standalone match between select teams.

In addition to shows, movies, baseball, and Sunday night soccer, the Apple TV app also provides access to more MLS (Major League Soccer) with its Season Pass offering. There are 30 MLS clubs and its 30th season begins the weekend of February 22.

MLS Season Pass requires a separate paid subscription of $14.99 per month during the season, or $99 for the full season. However, if you already subscribe to Apple TV+, you can sign up at a special price of $12.99 per month, or $79 per season.

Another feature of the Apple TV app is that you can buy or rent individual movies from a catalog of over 100,000 titles.

The Apple TV app on Android includes features such as Continue Watching to pick up where a user left off across all their devices, and Watchlist to keep track of everything they want to watch in the future. The app streams over Wi-Fi or a cellular connection and includes the ability to download to watch offline.

The Bottom Line

As mentioned at the top of this article, the Apple TV app is available on an extensive range of devices, but Android phones have been left out.

However, with the announcement that Apple TV+ (along with MLS Soccer) is now available for Android phones, it opens up a larger group of users that can now watch Apple TV+ shows, movies, baseball, and soccer on the go along with other Apple TV+ compatible devices.
