ASUS just released the ASUSPRO B9440, claiming to be the world’s lightest 14-inch business notebook weighing 2.31 lbs. However, the LG Gram 14-inch notebook is 2.14 lbs. Hmmm, is the distinction here about “business notebook”? For comparison sake, the svelte 13-inch MacBook Pro weighs 3.02 lbs.
The $999 ASUSPRO B9440 is composed of an all-metal chassis crafted from magnesium alloy — a premium material that is lighter but more rigid than standard aluminum alloy. Due to its almost bezel-less design it fits a 14-inch screen into a 13-inch chassis.
Like all ASUSPRO business notebooks, the B9440 is designed to exceed military-grade durability standards. It also passes extra-strict ASUSPRO reliability standards, undergoing a series of tough torture tests to ensure dependable operation in any environment.
The ASUSPRO B9440 comes with Windows 10 Pro and is powered by the latest Intel Core i5 U-series processors with optional Intel vPro support for enhanced enterprise manageability and security. It also features an optional Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for secure hardware-based data encryption as well as the ASUS Business Manager software suite, which includes tools for easy deployment, centralized maintenance and remote support.
Expansion capabilities include two USB 3.1 Gen 1 USB Type-C (USB-C) ports for high-speed data transfers, with both two ports supporting docking connections. Enhanced desktop-grade expansion capabilities are available with the optional ASUS SimPro Dock USB-C docking station, which features dual DisplayPort interfaces, USB-C and Type-A USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, VGA, HDMI, LAN and an SD Card reader. Ultra-fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 is built-in too.
Immersive stereo sound with rich bass and crystal-clear vocals is delivered by the powerful ASUS SonicMaster audio system, designed in cooperation with renowned audio experts Harman Kardon.
