Vidikron Offers Award-Winning Processor with Wider Range of Displays

Vidikron Expands Availability of VDP-80 Digital Video Controller/Processor as Option for Most of its Video Displays, Increasing Versatility of Packages

UNION CITY, CA — Sept. 21, 2005 — In answer to the requests of home cinema designers nationwide, Vidikron is now offering the powerful Model VDP-80 Digital Video Processor/Controller with a wide range of compatible projectors and flat-panel displays. The VDP-80, which uses Vidikron’s exclusive Imagix video processing, delivers the artifact-free scaling, aspect ratio control, and broad input flexibility that allows each Vidikron display to produce pristine images regardless of the source of video. The Model VDP-80 will be available bundled with Vidikron projectors, plasmas, and LCDs, or as an individual component starting this month.

“Now that our dealers can combine the VDP-80 processor/controller with almost any of our projectors and flat-panel displays, they can give any client a home cinema that performs far beyond expectation,” said Jim McGall, vice president of sales and marketing at Vidikron. “It is our priority to quickly respond to our dealers when we can add to their ability to build a home theater that not only creates an outstanding picture, but makes the entire viewing experience a pleasure. Setting up the VDP-80 is so straightforward; it expands a theater’s versatility while keeping operation very simple.”

The VDP-80 was originally offered exclusively with the Model 80 D-ILA projector, but will now be available with a greater range of projectors as well as both plasma and new flat-panel LCDs. Each VDP-80 ordered as part of a projector or flat-panel package will be custom-programmed to maximize the performance of its partner display.

It is designed not only to improve picture quality, but also to increase ease-of-installation of the display and connected sources. The VDP-80 can be rack-mounted with other home theater system equipment, minimizing the number of cable connections to the display. It includes an IR remote control and an RS-232 interface for integration with today’s latest automation control systems.

The VDP-80 is engineered to maximize the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) standards for proper setup and calibration, so that the very best home theater image quality can be achieved. Vidikron’s sophisticated white balance and color gamut range controls have also been incorporated for precise adjustment of gray scale and color. Up to 10 separate video components can be connected to the VDP-80 (with video signals from 480i to 1080i), which transforms any available video programming into stunning high-resolution.
