TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress Encoding Software Update Optimized For Intels New Quad Core Processor

Software offers up to a 40% Increase in Encoding Performance with Intel’s Quad Core CPU and SSE4 (Penryn New Instruction Set)

TMPG, Inc. is introducing an updated version of its video encoding software TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress. The update provides optimization of the MPEG encoder for the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processor and the Intel Xeon 5400 Family of quad core Intel CPU’s (code name Penryn). This offers up to a 40% increase in encoding performance compared to previous processors thanks to the Penryn New Instruction Set. The software upgrade will be available at www.tmpg-inc.com immediately and will be free for current TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress users. New users may purchase the updated software for $99.95 per license.

TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress now provides the power to take virtually any video file and encode it to today’s most popular file formats in blazing fast speeds,” stated Kimi Matsuki, TMPG CEO. “We will update much of our product line up to take advantage of Intel’s new quad core processor advances to enhance the high performance and quality encoding of all of our products.”

TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress includes an array of features from frame-level cut-editing tools to advanced multiple video filtering and effects It encodes high definition video and other popular file formats including HDV import/output along with native Flash video input, DivX, AVI, MPEG-1/2, MPEG-4 ISO /H.264, QuickTime (MOV), and Window Media (WMV/WMV-HD/WMA) input/output. The encoder also provides mobile support for PSPs, iPods, and PDAs. It also has input/output compatibility with Dolby Digital sound, Windows Media, MP3, and a wide variety of other audio formats as well as 19 powerful audio and video filters.

Users can automatically import multiple files. A subtitle function allows the insertion of text into the video, while a subtitle editor provides numerous options and settings. Additionally, TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress comes with a color histogram with narrow and full-range display options, and a simple vector scope for easy color control. A color correction filter easily corrects color shifting of YUV components.

Users can create a slideshow either using on-file pictures or by utilizing separate individual video frames created from a special frame-capture function. To provide more sophistication, an audio track, along with a wide variety of transitions, may be added to the slideshow. High-speed thumbnail viewing and scrolling allows users to rapidly search video footage looking for specific scenes to be edited. Other features include a split clip function, undo/redo capability, key frames for clip editing, and drag-and-drop capabilities, as well as a batch encode tool and MPEG tools.
