Earlier this year, TCL unveiled an impressive line-up of smart LED/LCD TVs, sized from 32 inches all the way up to 98 inches. Priced from around $150 to just under $10,000, the line offered something for practically everyone. Today the company expanded that line-up by one: and it’s a big one. The new 98″ 98S550G Smart S Class TV offers advanced technology such as a native 120 Hz panel, 4K resolution, wide color gamut, and HDR Ultra Processing with Dolby Vision IQ. The set includes the latest version of TCL’s AIPQ Engine Gen3 video processor for optimal image quality from multiple sources. And it does all this with a remarkably affordable list price: $4999.99.

With the addition of this giant TV, TCL now offers three 98″ sets that should make virtually any movie fan, gamer or sports lover happy. The 98-inch trio includes the 98R754 QLED model, first introduced in 2022 (but still current), the new 98S550G and the flagship 2023 Q Series model, the 98QM850G. With the introduction of this new S Series model, the older 98R754 model went on sale on Amazon for a ridiculously low $3999.99. A TCL rep told us this new S Class model may be seeing a significant promotional discount as well.

The new set offers a bright full array LED backlight system, but lacks local dimming or QLED color technology. Unlike the R754G model from last year, the new S Class set includes TCL’s newest AIPQ picture processor (Gen 3) for improved picture quality from virtually any source. All three of TCL’s 98-inch sets are built on the Google TV platform, so you’ll have access to all of the top streaming services as well as cloud gaming.
The new TCL S Class 98” 98S550G is available in North America via presale on TCL’s web site beginning today, and will be coming soon to authorized TCL retailers.
