Stewart Filmscreen and Lutron Electronics Combine Forces to Produce a Completely Silent, Retractable Projection Screen

In an exclusive collaboration, Stewart Filmscreen Corporation–the industry leader in precision projection screen technology in the home cinema and commercial markets–and Lutron Electronics Co. Inc., the world leader in lighting control, have joined forces to bring to market the very first completely silent retractable projection screen.

All electric screens descend or ascend from their encasements with some degree of noise–until now. Lutron pioneered the Sivoia QED (Quiet Electronic Drive) technology to reduce the amount of noise associated with motorized window treatments. This technology applied exclusively to Stewart Filmscreen products will allow motorized screens to be operated in complete silence. The Sivoia QED will be available in Stewart Filmscreen’s notable Model A Electriscreen and Visionary Screen (right)–making them the quietest screens on the market. They can be used in home, office, and commercial applications, such as in a home theater or for a boardroom presentation.

“At Stewart Filmscreen we look for every opportunity to create the best possible products. With Lutron’s exceptional Sivoia QED drive, we can offer our customers a truly precise motorized Electriscreen, one that is distinguished by its silence,” says Thomas Stewart, vice president, of Stewart Filmscreen. “Not only will the ‘Wow’ factor of Stewart screens with Sivoia QED impress end users, but operation is flawless thanks to the tried-and-tested Sivoia QED technology.”

“The marriage of the Stewart projection screen with Sivoia QED enables precise, quiet operation of the projection system–an ideal solution for system integrators who want to offer their customers the best product on the market. We are excited to be working with a company like Stewart Filmscreen,” says Stacey Kim, market development manager of Lutron Electronics.

Both companies are enthusiastic about the advanced integration possibilities that this product offers. Sivoia QED can fill additional roles in the projection environment, with the capability to seamlessly integrate into other systems, such as Lutron’s HomeWorks total home lighting control system.

The Stewart Filmscreen Model A Electriscreen with Sivoia QED can be seen in action at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), 1-3 February 2006, at the Brussels Exhibition Center, Hall 5, Stand D23, in Brussels, Belgium. Stewart Filmscreen representatives will be on hand to answer questions. Stewart Filmscreen will also be holding a press luncheon at its stand at 13h00 (1 pm) on 2 February 2006, where they will go into detail on the Stewart/Lutron collaboration, along with as other exciting new Stewart Filmscreen products. The Electriscreen with Sivoia QED will also be shown at Lutron’s stand at ISE. For more information on ISE, go to www.iseurope.com.

The Stewart Model A and Visionary Electriscreens with Sivoia QED technology will be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2006.
