Sony BRAVIA LED HDTVs for 2014

Sony BRAVIA W950B Series LED HDTV

Sony Electronics today announced its 2014 BRAVIA Full HD TV line-up, offering a variety of new features and screen sizes, and each powered by Sony’s widely-acclaimed X-Reality PRO picture engine, bringing stunning images to life from any source. The new models – W950B-, W850B-, W800B- and W600B-series – range in size from 40 to 70-inches.

The flagship W950B series (pictured above) incorporates TRILUMINOS Display, delivering lifelike color and accurate shading. TRILUMINOS Display works in unison with Sony’s X-Reality PRO picture engine which analyzes, cleans and refines images from any source, to reproduce rich, accurate color while maintaining brightness, hue and saturation. New for 2014, Sony has implemented its proprietary X-tended Dynamic Range in the W950B series to achieve a much more dynamic range of brightness with deeper blacks, more detailed gradation and higher peaks. The combination of these three unique Sony technologies delivers a Full HD viewing experience like never seen before.

The W950B and W850B series models utilize an innovative structural design with a new, iconic Wedge form factor. The Wedge shape increases capacity to incorporate larger speakers which provide a deeper, more powerful sound, unprecedented for a flat-screen TV. The design also increases stability by lowering the TV’s center of gravity, achieving a smaller pedestal size than conventional TVs, and allows for a variety of installation options.

The 2014 models also incorporate Sony’s ClearAudio+ digital signal processing for improved high-quality audio. ClearAudio+ combines a variety of Sony technologies to create an immersive experience with clear vocals and a wide range of sound. An optional wireless subwoofer (model SWF-BR100) is available to create a richer audio experience.

A new user interface (UI) for the 2014 BRAVIA line-up will allow viewers to stream beautiful, HD entertainment straight from the Internet or a home network using built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with ease. The new UI will allow users to view network content and personal content alongside conventional digital broadcasts. Additional features will include:

  • One-Flick Entertainment – The W950B series models offer Sony’s One-Flick Entertainment feature, designed to enhance the user experience with a new way to access and view content. One-Flick Entertainment allows viewers to quickly select favorites or browse content across nearly any source in the home. Viewers can operate the included One-Flick Remote Control in an intuitive fashion, as they would a touchpad or smartphone. By flicking up and down, viewers easily access content from digital broadcast, DVR, local/personal files and online content. One-Flick Entertainment also remembers viewers’ preferences, storing them in a Top Picks menu while recommending content based on personal habits and suggestions from friends. In addition, just touching an NFC-enabled smartphone or tablet to the One-Flick Remote Control will allow viewers to display on a big screen content such as photos, websites, music and movies, stored on a mobile device.
  • Social Viewing – Whether using the built-in or add-on camera – featuring Sony’s Exmor R for TV sensor – the 2014 BRAVIA line-up integrates video messaging, delivering a crisp and clear picture to family and friends, even when capturing dark rooms. The technology also eliminates echoes by using precise digital signal processing to enable clear conversations. Viewers can enhance their TV experience by sharing must-see moments with friends and families uninterrupted through other video-conferencing programs. Social Viewing also integrates Twitter to provide viewers a whole new way to interact with TV and the broader conversation.
  • Live “Football” Mode – The Live “Football” Launcher automatically adjusts picture and sound settings so that they simulate an authentic stadium surround experience, ideal for watching sports and the big game.
