Russound gets Sirius with new multiroom compatible dual tuner

ST2S lets homeowners choose from 120 SIRIUS Satellite Radio channels featuring commercial-free music, sports programming and Howard Stern

NEWMARKET, N.H., Sept. 6, 2005 — Russound announced today homeowners can now have multiroom access to their favorite SIRIUS satellite radio programming with the ST2S Smart Dual Tuner, one of the first multiroom source components to offer SIRIUS Satellite Radio (only available in the continental United States). With two tuners in one, the ST2S allows users to choose from more than 120 satellite channels carrying everything from commercial-free jazz to Howard Stern and NFL games, as well as their favorite local AM/FM stations — all of which they can select and listen to from anywhere in the house. The ST2S will be available in September for $1,199 US Domestic MAP.

Industry analysts predict satellite radio will experience a surge in the next five years, with Forrester Research estimating the number of listening consumers will jump from 4.5 million in 2004 to 20.1 million in 2010. Along with that growth, homeowners will want the option of listening to their favorite satellite radio stations throughout the house. Built with RNET technology on board, a two-way communication that allows Russound components to share valuable system information with each other, the ST2S Smart Dual Tuner gives homeowners extensive options for programming, intuitive information display and CD-quality sound. The ST2S Smart Tuner’s key features include:

-station/music/artist/song information displayed via Russound’s ST2-KP or UNO-S2 keypads or new UNO-TS2 Touchscreen using Russound’s CAV6.6 or CAM6.6;
-six banks of six presets per tuner (one tuner for each, satellite, FM and AM) for saving favorite satellite channels or radio stations with custom naming for all 72 presets;
-parental lock out to block access to certain satellite stations;
-multiroom access and control via Russound’s CAV6.6 controller or any controller with RS232 connections;
-dedicated infrared remote control; and
-single rack-high chassis with sleek industrial design.

“The ST2S brings the power and the promise of satellite radio from car stereos to multiroom home systems,” said Russound Product Manager Andy Lewis. “With 72 preset stations and a wealth of information available at users’ fingertips, the ST2S gives homeowners access to the diversity that SIRIUS Satellite Radio provides.”
