RTIs In-Wall Universal Controller is Now Shipping

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN — October 17, 2005 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI), the leading manufacturer of advanced universal home controls, takes control to new heights with the official release of the new K4 In-Wall Universal Controller. It’s the first stand-alone touchpanel with infrared control, video monitoring, and Ethernet connectivity that provides effortless integration with any size project. No other controller provides the K4’s wealth of function, level of customization and design versatility. Retailing at $2,499.00, the K4 controller is exclusively available to custom installers through the AVAD distribution network (www.avad.com).

“With our new K4 In-Wall Universal Controller, the custom installer has an elegant color touchpanel packed with features and an open architecture that can be easily programmed with our Windows-based TheaterTouch Designer software. It provides the installer with a complete control solution that can be custom tailored to any size project,” said Pete Baker, director of worldwide sales for RTI. “The K4 gives custom installers the ideal building block for integrating virtually any electronic component available into a control system that perfectly complements a home’s aesthetics and the client’s tastes.”

RTI’s K4 features a 6.4-inch TFT LCD touchscreen with full VGA resolution, powerful 32-bit processor, and infrared receiver that lets installers provide users complete and precise control over all audio/video components, lights, or other electronic systems. Its touchscreen is small enough to blend into a room’s interior, yet it provides the detail necessary for displaying video windows and web pages. The K4 interface has a 32-MB Flash memory, making it fully programmable using RTI’s TheaterTouch Designer software, which has evolved over the past decade to become the most rock-solid programming interface available. It lets installers easily display custom buttons, text, graphics, and animations. The controller maintains all settings and configurations even when power is lost.

The K4 can directly control almost any audio/video component, lighting or HVAC system using its infrared output port or other related accessories for RS-232 control. In addition, the built-in Ethernet port allows the K4 to access the Internet. With 4 composite video inputs, the K4 is capable of full screen or scalable viewing of security cameras or other video sources which could include viewing and selecting songs stored on a hard drive music server. An on-board microphone and stereo speakers are also included.

The K4 can be used as a stand-alone device or as part of an expandable central control system. When used with the available RTI accessory devices, the K4 is capable of infrared routing, relay control, power sensing, and RS-232 communications for advanced control.
