RTcom USA Inc. Announces Worlds First Expandable Digital Matrix Router

World’s First Expandable Digital Matrix Router That Supports All Digital Interfaces and Allows Expansion and Reconfiguring of Input and Output Cards

First Matrix Router That Has DVI, HDMI, SDI and Display Port Interface Versatility

RTcom USA Inc., provider of digital connectivity solutions for professional and consumer audio-visual and personal computer systems, announced the innovation of the world’s first Expandable Digital Matrix Router – EDM-1818M. The new router simultaneously supports multiple digital video formats, allowing integrators to use a single device for all digital signal types instead of a separate matrix switcher for each signal type.

Prior to the creation of the Expandable Digital Matrix Router, the industry’s multiple digital interfaces could not be supported by a single device. This required consultants and system designers to design overly complex and very costly systems.

The Expandable Digital Matrix Router supports most digital formats including: Digital Video Interface (DVI), High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), Secure Digital Interface (SDI) and Display Port. The EDM-1818M features a flexible back plane with slots for modular input/output cards, which allow prompt availability for any interface. The Expandable Matrix Router is user-configurable, so input/output cards may be replaced at any time after initial purchase.

“At RTcom we strive to provide our users with innovative solutions to both consumer and professional integration applications,” said Joon Ryu, president of RTcom USA. “The Expandable Matrix Router is a revolutionary technology that allows users the ease and flexibility of accessing all digital interfaces using one product.”

Among the Expandable Digital Matrix Router’s other features are:

  • Several user interface options: RS-232C, LAN(TCP/IP)Control, and from the integrated touch panel
  • HDCP compliant
  • Conforms to DVI 1.0, HDMI Ver1.3a and DISPLAY PORT V1.1
  • Built-in Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) read function, with Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM), to save display EDID data. The unit also supports non-VESA resolutions, including projectors with unique resolutions. This function is easy to set up by the user
  • Built-in noise protection circuits in each input and output port

The Expandable Digital Matrix Router is available now at an MSRP of $39,999, fully equipped with input/output cards, and can be purchased through Aurora Multimedia at (732) 591-5800.
