Rear-Projection HDTVs From LG Electronics Feature DLPTM and LCD Models – Portfolio Includes Digital Cable Ready and HDTV Monitors

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 8, 2004 — Demonstrating its commitment to providing a variety of digital video display solutions for the systems integration and custom installation markets, LG Electronics today introduced an assortment of rear-projection microdisplay high-definition televisions (HDTVs).

The widescreen rear-projection lineup being demonstrated in Booth #310 by LG Electronics at CEDIA Expo 2004 this week includes both Digital Light Processing (DLP(TM)) and liquid crystal display (LCD) models.

Digital cable-ready. Model DU-52SZ61D is LG’s 52-inch DLP rear-projection integrated HDTV, which is CableCARD-ready with a built-in LG fifth-generation ATSC tuner. It features Texas Instruments’ 1280 x 720p HD2+ chip, and offers advanced connectivity options, including HDMI, IEEE-1394, and RGB, as well as dual-tuner PIP, POP and split-screen options, 3D Y/C comb filter, 3:2 pulldown cinema correction, and Dolby SRS TruSurround Sound. The DU-52SZ61D, available this fall at a suggested price of $4,199, is being honored with a 2004 Golden Eye Award by The Perfect Vision magazine.

Digital Light Processing. Another DLP model being demonstrated in the LG booth is a 44-inch rear-projection DLP HDTV monitor, Model RU-44SZ61D. Cutting-edge design and a slim form factor make this unit perfect for many home theater environments where space is at a premium. Also featuring Texas Instruments’ 1280 x 720p HD2+ chip, Model RU-44SZ61D delivers exceptional picture quality, with Ultra Fine Pitch Screen and 10 Element HD Lens System, and offers advanced connectivity options, including DVI+HDCP. Other features include dual-tuner PIP, POP and split-screen options, 3D Y/C Comb Filter, 3:2 pulldown cinema correction, and Dolby Virtual Surround Sound. This model, available now at a suggested price of $2,999, is being honored as a 2004 “Product of the Year” by Electronic House magazine.

Liquid Crystal Displays. In the LCD rear-projection HDTV category, LG’s RU-48SZ40 is a 48-inch rear-projection LCD HDTV monitor. Delivering crisp HDTV images, it features 1280 x 720p WXGA resolution (0.7-inch LCD Panel), an Ultra Fine Pitch Screen, 3D Y/C Comb Filter, and 3:2 pulldown cinema correction. The RU-48SZ40 offers advanced connectivity options, with DVI+HDCP, and provides dual-tuner Picture-in-Picture (PIP), Picture-outside-Picture (POP) and split-screen options. With its high-gloss black cabinet and anti-glare screen protector, this super-slim 48-inch LCD rear-projection HDTV monitor, with matching external speakers, provides luxurious styling and high-end performance in any setting.

Model RU-44SZ80L offers a similar feature set in a smaller screen size (44 inches). The RU-48SZ40 and RU-44SZ80L are available now at suggested prices of $3,999 and $2,799, respectively.
