NetStreams MediaLinX Integrates Virtually Any Source Into the DigiLinX IP-Based Audio Distribution System

Austin, TX – September 10, 2004 – NetStreams, the leader in IP-based Networked Audio/Video distribution, introduces the MediaLinX (MLA100) IP-based media converter & controller. It converts in real-time analog or digital audio signals from a legacy source, such as a CD player, tuner, cassette player, etc., into TCP/IP packet-switched, uncompressed .WAV audio streams that can than be distributed over a home entertainment network.

MediaLinX allows for nearly any audio source to be integrated and controlled as part of the DigiLinX System,” said Herman Cardenas, founder and chief executive officer of NetStreams. “MediaLinX converts sound from legacy analog and digital sources into digital audio streams and preserves all sound quality for distribution throughout a digital home entertainment network. With upgradeable firmware, simple installation, and reliable performance, MediaLinX gives both audio system installers and users a superior home entertainment experience.”

MediaLinX uses a 24-bit / 96kHz Burr-Brown analog-to-digital converter to deliver the best audio fidelity of legacy audio sources. Once converted, analog & digital sources and their transport controls are distributed on the network. NetStreams’ Audio Input Compensation Technology allows custom installers to adjust the level of the legacy audio source to ensure consistent volume levels between it and other digital audio sources on the digital home entertainment network. RCA and S/PDIF inputs and outputs provide connection flexibility and also allow for the straight pass-through of audio signals to a receiver or preamp for local room listening.

MediaLinX also features a power sensor input and output for power sensing and reporting the power status of audio sources, a potentiometer for easy adjustment of the power sensor’s input level, an IR output for easy source control, and a Phoenix connector for source power management. MediaLinX’s power sensing can be accomplished by simply connecting an RCA cable to the source’s video output or by using an available LED power sensor (NS-PS301-LS).

MediaLinX, like all NetStreams DigiLinX products, is very easy to install. Learning IR codes is efficient and quick.– an integrated IR receiver and the NetStreams DigiLinX Dealer Set-Up Software eliminate the need for a separate box for programming. MediaLinX can be mounted on the inside of a rack, rear panel of a legacy source, or up to two can be mounted on the rear of a 19″ rack using the available DigiLinX Universal Rack Mount Plate NS-RP24.

NetStreams DigiLinX family of IP-based products offers very high quality and high performance audio distribution and control with capabilities never seen before, and a rich user experience only available in high cost systems today. This innovative product line, using NetStreams’ patent pending technology, is the first IP-based multi-room audio system in the custom market; ‘IP-based’ meaning a system that is not only controlled over IP, but also distributes its audio and video over packet-switched streams. DigiLinX delivers on the promise of convergence, effectively marrying networking technologies with hi-fidelity audio and later video, marking the introduction of ‘Networked Digital Entertainment’.
