Summer 2024 is rapidly approaching and outdoor party time with family, friends, or colleagues is a great idea. Consumers have a lot of options with regards to portable outdoor loudspeakers and LG might be offering just what you need.

LG’s XBOOM GO speakers are designed for party and on-the-go entertainment. For 2024, LG is adding to its XBOOM GO Speaker product line with the XG2T and XG8T models. Let’s check out what they have to offer.

The XG2T and XG8T are both portable Bluetooth speakers. LG claims that both products have passed the military standard test to withstand high temperatures, rain, sand, and more.

XG2T

The XG2T is a compact carry-around speaker weighing less than a pound. It features an adjustable cord that users can attach to a backpack, bike hands, tent poles, and more.

LG XBOOM GO XG2T Portable Bluetooth Speaker Uses

The XG2T includes a Sound Boost EQ mode to tailor audio quality for any environment. With up to 10 hours of music playtime, you can go almost all day listening to great music.

The IP67 dust and water resistance rating makes the XG2T usable in most outdoor settings.

XG8T

The XG8T is a larger, boom box-looking, portable speaker that includes multi-color LED lights to set the party mood that can be controlled by XBOOM App.

The XG8T provides up to 15 hours of playback on a full battery charge.

The larger XG8T comes equipped with an adjustable hybrid strap made of soft but durable fabric for carrying comfort. It can be used as a shoulder strap for longer journeys to the beach or as a shorter handheld strap for easy transport.

LG XBOOM GO XG8T Speaker Drivers

The XG8T features a track woofer and two cone tweeters that work to balance different frequencies.

With up to 120W of output power, the XG8T supports punchy bass with enhancement algorithms.

Initial Thoughts

These latest LG XBOOM GO speakers don’t offer anything revolutionary but just some fine-tuning of the product line. However, the X2GT is extremely small and it is hard to believe that it can produce good quality sound from its own speakers as LG claims. I also wonder how much their “Military Stanard Grade Testing” procedures contribute to product quality or if they are more of a marketing tool to get more consumer attention in a crowded portable speaker market.

Note: The LG XG8T uses the larger USB Type A charging port, so if you’ve been trying to standardize device charging with USB-C, you’ll need to remember to carry an extra USB-A cable with you.
