Kyocera Hyrdo Edge Waterproof Smartphone

Kyocera Hydro Edge Smartphone

Sprint and Boost Mobile announced they will offer the Kyocera Hydro Edge Android smartphone with or without contract. The entry-level spec phone’s main feature is that it can be submerged in up to 3.28 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. The new model improves upon the original Kyocera Hydro with a larger display, better camera, and adds Smart Sonic Receiver technology to improve sound in noisy environments.

Kyocera’s Smart Sonic Receiver technology transmits audio directly from the screen via both sound waves and vibration, without the need for a traditional earpiece or loudspeaker. Since there is no speaker, the whole display vibrates create to sound. Kyocera claims this technology offers unparalleled sound quality in noisy environments and may help people with hearing disabilities.

Kyocera Hydro Edge Features:

  • Android 4.1, Jelly Bean
  • 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor

  • 4-inch capacitive, impact-resistant touchscreen display
  • 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and video camera
