Kurio Xtreme Tablet for Kids

Kurio Xtreme Tablet for kids

Techno Source announced today the Kurio Xtreme, a 7-inch tablet for kids running Android 4.4. (KitKat) for $160. Featuring a sleek, thinner and lighter design, a faster Intel Atom processor, double the internal memory, added Bluetooth technology and 24/7 customer support right from the tablet, this upgraded kid device also introduces exclusive Kurio Motion gaming – the first body-controlled games on a tablet.

Innovative Kurio Motion games will get kids jumping, running and moving as they swim, ski, tend goal, space race and more. The technology works using the tablet’s camera alone, allowing games to be played anytime, anywhere. No consoles, sensors, gaming controllers or TV is required. A special Kurio Motion gaming stand is included with the device. Ten Kurio Motion games come preloaded on the device.

To assist parents in choosing the right content for their child, Kurio has partnered with Common Sense Media, the nation’s leading independent non-profit dedicated to empowering kids to thrive in a world of media and technology. Two Common Sense Media apps will be preloaded on the Kurio Xtreme: Kids Media app provides parents with age-based ratings, reviews and advice on apps, games, sites, movies and more. The award-winning Digital Passport app uses engaging games and videos to address the key issues that kids face online: safety and security, privacy, cyberbullying, responsible cell phone use and respecting creative work.

Parents can easily manage a child’s applications from the Xtreme’s password-protected Parental Area – allowing or blocking apps, categorizing apps by Games, Educational, Media, Ebooks and more, and even setting app time limits.

New COPPA-compliant, kid-safe social networking apps let kids connect safely with friends and family they know. This includes a kids’ e-mail application that can be monitored and filtered by parents, as well as preloaded kid-safe social apps like Kid Social and Yoursphere.

New parent-friendly features also include a 24/7 Customer Care center, which allows parents to access customer support right from the tablet through the Kurio Support and Kurio SOS apps. Parents will have the option to live chat with a tech expert or even allow the technician to take over the tablet remotely to resolve any issues.

Parental Features:

  • The proprietary Kurio Genius Internet filtering system that is updated daily, covering more than 500 million websites in 170 languages to block inappropriate content and keep kids safe online
  • Advanced time controls, which now allow parents to not only determine daily play time and the days/times during which the device can be used, but also to set more detailed session and rest times
  • Advertisement controls that filter ads within websites and apps
  • The ability to create up to eight completely independent user profiles
  • A customizable easy-to-use child interface that allows kids to choose their avatar, theme, wallpaper and password

Kurio Xtreme features a 7″ capacitive multi-touch screen, 16 GB of internal memory (expandable to 48 GB with micro SD card), front and rear-facing cameras, USB connection, micro SD card slot, and a lithium polymer battery offering six to eight hours of battery life.
