Gibson Guitar Exhibits the Les Paul HD.6X-Pro Guitar System, the First Guitar of the 21st Century at CES 2007

Daily Demonstrations at Booth CP1 (Central Plaza 1)

Nashville, Tennessee…December 29, 2006…Gibson Guitar, the world’s premier musical instrument manufacturer and leader in music technology, has announced the availability of the Gibson HD.6X-Pro Guitar System–the most revolutionary leap forward in guitar manufacturing in more than 70 years. The result of years of research and development, the HD.6X-Pro Guitar System, nicknamed the HD LP, combines incredible Gibson craftsmanship with the latest, groundbreaking digital technology. The result may look like an electric guitar, but the Gibson HD LP is a complete digital audio system that is poised to usher in a new era of music making.

With unprecedented technology and innovative development, the Gibson HD.6X-Pro Guitar System is the first guitar of its kind, and represents a dramatic step forward for the instrument. One hundred limited-edition HD LP guitars have been signed by Les Paul, and are available through online dealer Sweetwater (www.sweetwater.com). Numerous artists and musicians from around the world are scheduled to appear and perform with the system with some surprise celebrities appearing at Gibson’s booth at CES. Daily demonstrations by clinician Bart Walsh will also take place at the Gibson Booth CP1.

The HD.6X-Pro features a hand-oiled mahogany neck, smooth frets and a comfortable profile for effortless playability, and classic Gibson humbuckers for incredible, traditional tone. Media-accelerated Global Information Carrier (MaGIC), an Ethernet with patented Gibson technology, carries bi-directional signals with low latency and no signal degradation over miles of cable. The HD.6X-Pro’s Hex pickup is composed of six small, patent-pending humbuckers positioned under each string at the bridge. The high-technology pickups send six individual signals to studio grade preamps, allowing the six signals to be immediately digitized. The incredible sensitivity of the Hex pickup and the high-definition signal stream offers dynamic range and sonic possibilities never before imagined. The Breakout Box, known as “BoB,” routes any combination of the six Hex signals to any assigned destination automatically detecting outputs and designations for ease of use and playability.

Each instrument comes standard with a complete version of Cakewalk SONAR software, and all the plug-ins needed to instantly interface with a computer. This revolutionary new guitar will open up a whole new world to musicians everywhere.

Gibson is known worldwide for producing classic models in every major style of fretted instrument, including acoustic and electric guitars, mandolins, and banjos. Gibson’s HD.6X-PRO Guitar System represents the biggest advance in electric guitar design in over 70 years. Founded in 1894 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and headquartered in Nashville since 1984, Gibson Guitar Corp.’s family of brands now includes Epiphone, Dobro, Kramer, Steinberger, Tobias, Slingerland, Valley Arts, Maestro, Baldwin, Chickering, Hamilton, and Wurlitzer.
