Excel Server 2004 Standard Edition has been released by CESoft Co., Ltd at October 22, 2004.
Excel Server 2004 is an integral information platform built on Excel and MS SQL Server. Namely, it uses Excel as a tool for helping users to design report templates, and use the templates to fill, select and query data via the Internet. Meanwhile, its workflow process allows multiple users to work on the same report sequentially according to distinguished roles. Additionally, its user access authorities are centrally granted and managed. It is designed to fit different business management structures. More importantly, it uses MS Excel and MS SQL Server database to ensure the system is easy to used and maintained. Any users who can use the MS Excel could handle Excel Server 2004 system easily. Therefore, an important feature for Excel Server 2004 system is to build an entire complex information system by all Excel users. By using it, an organization would reduce costs for building its information system.
