ELAN Home Systems Debuts Pocket-Sized, Internet-Enabled Wireless Touch Remote Control

DENVER, CO — CEDIA Booth #610 — ELAN Home Systems, a leading manufacturer of award-winning Multi-Room audio/video and home control systems, announced today the trade debut of the N800 4-Inch Wireless Color Touch Remote at CEDIA 2007 in Denver, Colorado. The device is an ultra-slim, handheld portable controller with a touch sensitive screen that allows wireless Internet access and complete remote control of ELAN and third party supported manufacturer’s systems. The announcement was made by Bob Farinelli, ELAN’s President and Chief Technology Officer.

ELAN has been setting the standard for multi-room entertainment since 1989, providing state-of-the-art solutions for the enjoyment of music and video anywhere in the home. Now, with the N800, users gain reliable wireless, graphical control of all their entertainment, theater, and whole-house systems, plus direct access to the Internet, in a sleek hand-held package that makes it the ideal go-anywhere, do-anything controller for the entire family.

This sleek 7.3 ounce, half inch thick, 5.7″ x 3″ control panel features a 4.13″ screen with a high resolution 800×480, 16:9 widescreen display. The high resolution means that even though the screen is only four inches diagonally, it is easy on the eyes because the displayed text and colorful graphics have five times the clarity of a personal digital assistant (PDA). The device debuts with traditional VIA! compatible graphics and also will demonstrate some of the new high resolution graphical schemes on the show floor at CEDIA.

“This tiny handheld powerhouse is packed with an incredible array of capabilities ranging from TV control with crisp, colorful channel icons, to house-wide system control and web browsing – all at a price that makes having several of these around the house a reality,” said Bob Farinelli. “This is definitely not your father’s TV clicker!”

A seamless combination of software and hardware offering impressive Internet and media capabilities, ELAN’s N800 is a pocket-sized controller that provides portable control of ELAN systems with 2-way, real-time feedback from most ELAN entertainment sources and supported ELAN VIA! Integration Partner systems. The panel is compatible with all ELAN Multi-Room Controllers and provides simplified control of electronic systems, including music, movies, lighting, temperature and security, in all system zones throughout the home. It features real-time status display for lighting, temperature and security systems as well as instant ‘Now Playing’ information from music sources.

ELAN’s N800’s built-in web browser and robust WiFi link make it easy to connect to the Internet. The high-resolution, full color, widescreen display featuring scroll, zoom and pan options and a full screen touch keyboard make for effortless Internet navigation. The device’s web browsing capabilities allow users to surf the net, check web-based email, view video streams, stream Internet audio and more. The N800 also supports Flash Player, allowing users to view the most vivid content on the web while the device’s built-in stereo speakers let users listen to Internet-based audio while they’re browsing.

Highly customizable, users can even match the N800’s on-screen “skins” to look and feel like other ELAN user interfaces in their homes, including the company’s award-winning VIA! Touch Panels and Ole Touchpads, making system control decor friendly and familiar regardless of the room they are in.

ELAN’s N800 4-Inch Wireless Touch Panel will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2008 at an MSRP of $1200.00 and comes with a one year warranty. To see the N800 in action, stop by ELAN’s booth #610 at CEDIA 2007 in Denver, Colorado.
