What They Skipped: Missing Features You Should Know About

At $400, the S880DB MKII hits a lot of marks, but it’s not perfect. There’s no internal phono stage, no support for aptX, aptX HD, or aptX Adaptive, and Bluetooth LE Audio is absent. If you were hoping for native Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, or AirPlay, you’re out of luck. HDMI ARC/eARC? Not here. And finishes are limited to white—though, honestly, the white front baffle paired with the wood side panels isn’t exactly a tragedy.

    Ian, thanks for the heads-up on this. I purchased round one over 6 years ago. And at that time, Edifier included a free month of Tidal with my purchase. And down the audio rabbit hole I went.

    My wife now has these speakers (since I’ve retired), but they got me back into SERIOUSLY listening to music again, after a nearly 3 decade hiatus thanks to a career change.

    Glad to see Edifier keeping this reasonable. And if you’re using for computer monitors, USB-C is all you need, IMHO.

      I like their products, but I’m already drowning in desktop loudspeakers. Trying to navigate the next 10 years and figure out what makes the most sense for NJ, FL and NS (which won’t be a thing I can live in until Q2 2026).

      Definitely see in-wall, in-ceiling, and on-wall becoming a reality.
