DIRECTV Adds More HD Channels

DIRECTV Customers Now Have Access to Even More National HD Channels Including MTV Networks’ MTV HD, VH1 HD, Spike HD, Nickelodeon HD and CMT HD

DIRECTV, the nation’s leading satellite television service provider, announced today the addition of even more national HD channels including MTV Networks’ MTV HD, VH1 HD, Spike HD, Nickelodeon HD, CMT HD, as well as five new HD pay-per-view channels. Bio HD, a new HD channel, will join the lineup at the end of the month.

With these new additions, available to customers today, DIRECTV continues to lead the HD revolution by delivering significantly more quality national HD channels than any other television provider in the nation and is well on its way to launch up to 100 HD channels by the end of the year.

“The addition of MTV Networks’ popular channels to our HD platform makes DIRECTV the only television service provider to offer multiple HD feeds from all major programming providers,” said Derek Chang, executive vice president, Content Strategy and Development, DIRECTV, Inc. “While we are excited to offer the best programming available in HD, our main goal is to deliver a comprehensive lineup that focuses on quality programming important to our customers. We believe our current lineup makes DIRECTV the premier destination for HD enthusiasts and we are excited to continue delivering the best television experience available.”

“MTV Networks is committed to providing audiences with access to all the HD programming they want across our music, entertainment, pop culture, comedy and kids and family brands,” said Denise Dahldorf, executive vice president, Content Distribution and Marketing, MTV Networks. “We’re excited to join DIRECTV’s national HD lineup with some of our most popular brands, and give our audiences even more choice in enjoying our programming in HD.”

In addition to the national HD lineup, DIRECTV now offers the following 15 regional sports networks with all games in HD:

Altitude FSN Northwest
CSN New England FSN Ohio
FSN Arizona FSN Pittsburgh
FSN Bay Area FSN Rocky Mountain
FSN Cincinnati FSN South
FSN Florida Sport South
FSN Midwest Sun Sports
FSN North

The full DIRECTV HD programming lineup, including the new channels, and details on receiving equipment needed for the new DIRECTV HD services, are available by calling 1-800-DIRECTV or visiting directv.com.

In addition to the national HD channels listed above, DIRECTV also offers 245 local HD channels across 65 cities, representing nearly 72 percent of U.S. TV Households.

The DIRECTV 11 satellite will be launched early next year to support further HD expansion. With the two satellites, DIRECTV will have the ability to deliver 150 national HD channels and 1,500 local HD and digital channels in addition to new advanced programming services for customers.
