Databarracks announce the release of Arxcis Enterprise Level Backup

Databarracks, a leading online backup services supplier, today announced the official launch of Arxcis Online Backup. Aimed at enterprise level companies with complex or distributed backup and large data storage requirements; Arxcis is an end to end solution that allows IT managers to completely outsource their company’s daily backup routine.

Oliver Mather, Databarracks’ Technical Director said “Arxcis is the perfect accompaniment to our product offering and a great stable mate for our DBVault service. Arxcis gives our larger customers a backup solution that can fit in seamlessly with their wider Disaster Recovery Strategy. It has the ability to take ‘hot backups’ of Exchange, SQL, Oracle, DB2 and Lotus Domino. A broad range of Unix and Linux platforms are also supported. This means that now if a client loses a main server we can restore it from bare metal to it’s pre-existing state either in situ or at their DR site in record time, with minimum downtime.”

Databarracks are now in a position to better serve the larger end of the market, with data amounts up to many Terabytes able to be backed up in a short nightly backup window using delta blocking technology. Peter Groucutt, Databarracks MD thinks that by offering Arxcis with a very similar pricing model to that of DBVault, a service targeted at the SOHO and SME market, a secure, managed, online, offsite backup strategy can now be a viable option for larger companies. “Historically enterprise level online backup has been incredibly expensive, but by keeping the amount charged at a cost per stored GB with no additional charge for 24 hour technical support, we are aiming to provide a significantly cheaper solution than our competitors for a service which is far more accessible and inclusive”.

Link Asset and Securities Ltd have a wide range of business critical information from bespoke systems as well as the need to backup data securely offsite from their trading floors in both London and New York. The need to comply with regulatory drivers and the requirement to centrally and easily administer the backup to a secure location away from their business sites cost effectively, made the choice to out source their backup an easy one. Brendan Mason of Link Brokers said “Since DATABarracks have managed our off site backups we have found them to be totally professional at all times. We have never dealt with a more proactive partner during initial setup and subsequent expansion of the service to include our New York office. The service they have provided has always been first class and when required the restored data has always been perfect and easily attainable”
