Crestron Showcase At Nextgen Home Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — The NextGen Home Experience is the culmination of the next generation of ideas, concepts and building products for the North American Home. As the global leader of home control and automation, Crestron was chosen as the premier technology provider for the 5,200 square foot show home. Crestron provides the ultimate modern lifestyle of comfort and convenience, placing home entertainment and technology at your fingertips. Select and control audio and video components, dim lights and adjust thermostats in every room in the house from 11 custom touchpanels, 45 Cameo keypads and two handheld remotes.

Crestron delivers the optimal home theater experience, including a 7.1 surround sound processor, video processor and distribution system, lighting and climate control from a TPS-6X Wireless Touchpanel. Two additional TPS-6X touchpanels enable complete control from the master bedroom and VIP suite. Even the bathrooms in the master bed room and VIP suite feature Crestron control via WPR-48 waterproof remotes, so you can select entertainment and adjust lights and temperature while soaking in the bath. Crestron CEN-IDOC docking stations for the iPod also installed in the master bedroom, VIP suite and family room seamlessly integrate the popular MP3 player as a whole house audio source, which may be accessed from touchpanels in any room.
In the kitchen a TPMC-8X WiFi Touchpanel with a Windows XP Embedded operating system offers home control, Web browsing, email messaging and streaming media from one sleek mobile device. Wall mount touchpanels are conveniently located in the master bathroom, dining room and foyer.

MT-100C MiniTouch Handheld Wireless Touchpanels provide control in bedrooms 2, 3, 4 and the library. In total the home has 10 independent zones of climate control, 10 zones of distributed video with 16 audio zones, and 8 lighting zones consisting of 188 loads. Pre-set scenes are programmed for special occasions, such as “Goodnight,” “Vacation,” “Party” and “Show” modes.
Crestron also integrates the home security system, including CCTV cameras, which may be accessed, controlled and monitored from touchpanels throughout the home. The biometric entry scanners manage access to the home by identifying individuals and their personal security levels as they enter. The same finger swipe that opens the door is also recognized by the control system, displaying the family member’s name on touchpanel displays and automatically initiating personalized settings for lights, temperature and entertainment. An email is automatically sent to the parents when the children return home from school. Emails and pop-up alerts on touchpanels indicate unidentified scan attempts so immediate action, such as viewing live security cameras, can be taken.

The NextGen home truly showcases the latest cutting-edge technologies and trends such as “green” living. In addition to the integrated Crestron systems, including lighting, HVAC and AV, several other environmental systems are also controlled and managed by Crestron. Solar power, water recirculation, and backup power generators are connected to and monitored by the Crestron control solution. Live weather information also feeds directly into the Crestron control system, which automatically adjusts the various environmental settings to optimize energy efficiency.

Throughout 2009, the NextGen Home will be open to attendees of the largest home industry tradeshows in the world, including the International Builders’ Show, the Consumer Electronics Show, the World of Concrete and the International Roofing Expo. To learn more visit www.nextgenhome.com.
