Check Out Onkyo’s Surprise New Line of A/V Receivers and Home Theater Separates

Onkyo wowed crowds at CES 2026 with an entirely refreshed line of A/V receivers, as well as a return to the A/V separates market.

Onkyo Unveils New AV Receivers and Home Theater Separates at CES 2026

While Onkyo may have changed hands a couple of times in the past few years, at this year’s CES, the company showed that it has a strong vision for the future. Surprising everyone (including us), the company unveiled multiple new products including an entire suite of A/V receivers (AVRs), as well as a new home theater preamp/processor and two multi-channel home theater power amplifiers.

The RZ series receivers have undergone a dramatic facelift with a large high resolution screen that helps simplify set-up and provides useful information at a glance like surround sound format, room correction, input selection and more. The receiver line-up includes two new models in the entry level “NR” line, and four new models in the step-up RZ line. All models include DIRAC Live room correction on-board at no additional cost, and can be upgraded to DIRAC Bass Control or even DIRAC ART (Active Room Treatment) with purchase of a license from DIRAC.

All models in the RZ series feature multiple independently controlled subwoofer outputs (up to six sub outputs on certain models), for fine control over in-room bass performance. Select RZ series receivers will include AURO-3D decoding, while all will include decoding for Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital+, Dolby True HD, Dolby Atmos, DTS, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio and DTS:X. All RZ series models are IMAX Enhanced certified, support Bluetooth with Auracast and are “Works with Sonos” certified as well so they can be used as individual Sonos zones with addition of a Sonos Port.

Onkyo’s Entry Level NR Series

The two new models in the entry level “NR” (Network Receiver) line include the TX-NR6200 7-channel receiver and the TX-NR7200 9-channel receiver. Both include DIRAC Live room correction and both are rated at 100 watts/channel. These feature a more subdued styling but offer on-board decoding of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X with discrete height channel speaker outputs as well as virtualization options. The NR6200 supports 7.1 or 5.1.2 channel speaker configurations while the NR7200 can do 7.1, 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 channels of output. On a smaller system, you can use the on-board amps for a second zone of output if you choose.

Step On Up to the RZ Series

All models in the RZ series get the new styling and large front screen as well as THX Select 2 certification. These include the TX-RZ31 (9-channel, 100 WPC), TX-RZ51 (9-channel, 120 WPC), TX-RZ61 (11-channel, 135 WPC), TX-RZ71 (11-channel, 145 WPC). All models are IMAX Enhanced certified.

While much of the information we gathered at CES was preliminary, we did confirm that select models will have up to six independent subwoofer outputs. In conjunction with DIRAC Active Room Treatment (ART), these independent subwoofer controls will allow customers to tailor all subwoofers in the system to work together in order to create deep and uniform bass response anywhere in the room. We don’t have details on which models will have six sub outputs but have confirmed that the TX-ZR51 will have four independent subwoofer outputs.

Ya Gotta Keep ‘em Separated

In yet another surprise move, Onkyo has brought back its home theater separates line with a new preamp/processor and two new multi-channel power amps. If you’re building a system for a larger home theater or just like the idea of keeping the processing and A/V switching functions completely isolated from the power amps, these new separates are quite compelling. The PR-RZ91 features 15 channels of audio processing, THX Dominus certification, decoding for all flavors of Dolby, DTS and Auro-3D. We believe it will also have six independent subwoofer outputs but this is not yet confirmed. The PA-RZ04 (4 channel) and PA-RZ11 (11-channel) power amplifiers are each rated at 150 WPC and are THX Select 2 certified.

Pricing and availability dates have not yet been announced but we’ve heard that the first models are expected to become available in late 2026 or early 2027. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

It seems the screen is from the same supplier as Anthem’s 😉
