Cablevision Joins High-Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA) Board

17 new members join HANA at the contributor and adopter level

LAS VEGAS, NV, January 9, 2006 — Cablevision Systems Corp. — operating the nation’s largest cable cluster — joins the Board of the High-Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA), it was announced today by Dr. Heemin Kwon, HANA Chairman and Samsung Executive Vice President. In addition to Cablevision, 17 other companies have recently joined HANA as contributors and adopters in order to advance HD AV home networks.

Cablevision joins dozens of other HANA member companies including fellow promoters Charter, JVC, Mitsubishi, NBC Universal, Samsung, Sun Microsystems, Texas Instruments and Warner Bros. HANA’s vision is a trusted HD entertainment network where consumers can enjoy a wide range of new HD products and services with full HDTV quality-of-service networking and where TV service providers and content owners can be assured that commercial entertainment is used only as licensed.

HANA member companies plan to introduce a wide range of secure HANA consumer audio-video (AV) devices including HANA TVs, Audio Systems, Set-Tops, Digital Video Recorders and Portable Media Players. HANA AV systems will be simple to install — requiring no new home wiring and with typical set up in less than 15 minutes.

“We couldn’t be happier with Cablevision’s board membership on HANA. Adding a leading service provider to our board of content creators, CE, and IT companies fills a critical role in having HANA represent the value chain players from content creation to consumption. In addition to achieving the nation’s highest digital cable penetration at better than 76 percent, Cablevision is a clear leader in delivering the highest level of content and new services to its video, voice and data customers. We look forward to working with our new partner to bring HANA to the market,” said Dr. Kwon.

“Cablevision is not only committed to providing our customers with a broad array of compelling content, but also to pioneering the way content is viewed and shared throughout the home. HANA’s clear mission is to enable this vision, which is why we are pleased to be part of this alliance and to directly contribute to achieving these important objectives,” said Wilt Hildenbrand, Cablevision’s Senior Advisor, Engineering & Technology.

The new contributor and adopter members include 4Home Media, Agere Systems, Analog Devices, ANT, Dolby Laboratories, Echo Digital Audio Corporation, ETRI, InnoPia Technologies, Inc., Intellasys, IOI Technology Corporation, Korea HD Broadcasting Corp., LifeSize Communications, LRS Media, Mentor Graphics, Tzero Technologies, Via Technologies and Wisair.
