19″W+ Format with Higher Resolution 1680×1050
The ASUS VW198 is the first 19-inch widescreen LCD monitor with WSXGA+ 1680×1050 high resolution – the minimum display resolution requirement for operating Windows Vista™ as recommended by Microsoft. It has an increase of 36% in resolution and shortens 15% pixel pitch to deliver finer image quality than normal 19-inch widescreen LCD monitors. With such cutting-edge enhancements, users will be able to perfectly experience high-resolution visual performance and see clearer details on the 19″W+ VW198.
3000:1 High Dynamic Contrast Ratio for Sharper Images
The VW198 series incorporates wide viewing angles, 5ms response time and 300 nits brightness to deliver clear and smooth image quality. The innovative ASCR (ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio Technology) provides the high contrast ratio of 3000:1 that dynamically adjusts contrast between black and white to create sharper and more stereoscopic images – especially during video and movies. Built-in stereo speakers complete the multimedia ensemble and deliver a video display solution that doubles with high-quality audio experience.

A clean outlook with exquisite details makes the VW198 a stylish piece of decor for any environment. The quasi piano painted and slim front bezel adds stylish aesthetic value, while the silver strip designed hotkeys perfectly combines functionality with decoration. Splendid Video Intelligence Technology, found exclusively in ASUS solutions, detects activation and usage of video applications and automatically optimizes image quality for the best visual results. Besides providing five pre-set modes (Standard, Game, Theater, Scenery and Night), this innovative technology also enables the selection of three skin tone options for high-quality images in different video applications. Watching videos and movies with PCs and LCD monitors can now be just as good as on the best TVs – especially with the new high-resolution wide screens.
ASUS has also launched two other top quality displays for consumers. The 22-inch widescreen VW222U adopts Trace Free Technology with the fastest 2ms response time to display the smoothest image quality, while the 20-inch widescreen VW202T incorporates HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) support and ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio Technology to deliver 2000:1 high dynamic contrast ratio.
