AMCOR INTRODUCES LINE OF INNOVATIVE GPS SYSTEMS FEATURING 3-D SOFTWARE AT CES

CARLSTADT, NJ, December 21, 2007–Amcor, Inc. of Carlstadt, NJ, a global technology leader and manufacturer of consumer products, with a focus on lifestyle technology products for home, office, and travel, introduced a full line of dynamic GPS (Global Positioning System) products which will be showcased at the International Consumer Electronics Show (Booth #4610) that opens at the Las Vegas Convention Center on January 7, 2008.
The new product line incorporates six new models that range in price from $149.99 to $279.99 MSRP.
According to Andrew Ziegler, Director of Product Management for Amcor, the new 2008 GPS product line features dynamic 3-D graphics of buildings, topography, landmarks, and dual mode screens that automatically switch to night screen graphics for easier viewing. “Amcor’s value priced GPS portfolio combines stylish industrial design, and a wide array of convenient technology features, that includes navigation, entertainment, and calendar appointment features” says Ziegler.
Several units offer: Text-to-speech in 28 languages, tracking logs for recording of past itineraries, navigation by contacts data base or pictures, calendar appointment reminder,integrated traffic, Bluetooth and up to 12 million points of interest.
Published reports indicate the worldwide GPS market will reach a value of more than US$ 30 Billion approximately by 2008. Recently, the NPD Group said that 93,000 GPS units were sold over the ’07 Thanksgiving weekend, a seven fold increase over 2006 (670%). NPD also indicated that even a week later the sales were still surging at a rate double a year ago. “Consumers are embracing GPS technology for convenience and for safety, as we see both male and female demographics embracing GPS products as an integral part of today’s digital lifestyle,” said Ziegler. “Amcor is committed to delivering high quality, personal GPS solutions to consumers at affordable prices,” he concluded.
