The rewriteable RIDATA MMCmobile flash card offers the highest data transfer rate of any existing memory card standard currently available. The rate is nearly a 20x increase from previous standards. It features three data bus width modes (1-bit, 4-bit, and 8-bit) to support more data-intense devices such as mobile phones and digital cameras.
The new Advanced Media card also supports dual-voltage operation of both 1.8V and 3/3.3V. This is important for users of the next generation of mobile phones and small consumer electronic devices _ such as PDAs and games _ that require lower power consumption. The card is non-volatile, meaning it does not require power to retain data stored on it.
Other features include very low power consumption; 128 MB and 256 MB capacities; and full, backward compatibility with previous MultiMediaCards.
