Pioneer and Premium Audio Company Split: What Does This Mean for the Future of Pioneer and Elite?

Premium Audio Company and Pioneer Corporation end their home audio partnership, leaving PAC with Klipsch, Onkyo, Integra, Magnat, and HECO.

Premium Audio Company Brands as of July 19, 2025

After offloading both Jamo and Energy in 2024, the Premium Audio Company (PAC) has now officially ended its licensing agreement with Pioneer Corporation. That means the once-sprawling PAC roster just got leaner, with only Klipsch, Onkyo, Integra, Magnat, and HECO still under the umbrella.

The breakup isn’t messy — at least publicly. Both PAC and Pioneer (including the Elite sub-brand) confirmed they’ve wrapped up what they described as a “successful multi-year collaboration” that covered licensing, distribution, and marketing of Pioneer’s home audio and home theater products. Translation: the relationship ran its course, and both sides are moving on.

It’s important to note that the PAC-Pioneer agreement was strictly limited to home audio and home theater. PAC never had any involvement in Pioneer’s automotive, TV, headphone, wireless audio, or pro sound categories — those remain under Pioneer Corporation or other licensing partners. In short, nothing changes for those product lines.

With the deal now concluded, the development and production of future Pioneer and Pioneer Elite home audio and theater gear return fully to Pioneer Corporation’s control.

As part of this transition, PAC has indicated that it will continue to provide service and support for all Pioneer and Pioneer Elite products it has produced and sold during this partnership (2020 to 2025). The PAC-operated pioneerhomeusa.com website will remain active to support all Pioneer purchases made through PAC-authorized dealers and distributors with model-specific service and support information.

From Vincent Bonacorsi, COO of Premium Audio Company: “We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Pioneer and appreciate the collaboration we’ve had,…After thoughtful discussions, we have mutually agreed to part ways and are now focused on the exciting next chapter of growing our core brands. Our commitment to delivering exceptional audio solutions and supporting our customers remains unwavering.”

With Pioneer and Elite exiting the lineup, PAC has made it clear that it’s turning its attention to bolstering its core audio brands — Klipsch, Onkyo, Integra, Magnat, and HECO. Expect deeper investments, tighter integration, and likely a renewed marketing push around these key names.

Note: Gentex Acquired VOXX (parent of Premium Audio Company) in 2024.

The Bottom Line

When PAC was first formed under VOXX, it looked like a home audio powerhouse — ten brands under one roof, including Klipsch, Onkyo, ProMedia, Jamo, Energy, Pioneer, Pioneer Elite, Integra, Magnat, and HECO. But a lot can change in a few years — and it has. Following VOXX’s acquisition by Gentex in late 2024, only five brands remain in the PAC portfolio as of mid-2025: Klipsch, Onkyo, Integra, Magnat, and HECO.

Of those, Klipsch and Onkyo appear to be the anchor brands, both fully owned and still getting support and visibility. Integra — also owned by PAC — along with licensees Magnat and HECO, haven’t had quite the same presence lately, and their future under the PAC banner is far from certain.

Pro Tip: PAC owns Klipsch, Onkyo, and Integra. Magnat and HECO are operated under licensing agreements — just like Pioneer and Elite were, before that relationship ended.

The home audio space continues to be a game of musical chairs. Consolidation, acquisitions, and licensing shakeups are the norm, not the exception. As PAC sheds brands and refocuses its strategy post-Gentex, it’s worth keeping an eye on who’s still standing — and who might not be for long.

With all of the consolidation and acquisitions, it’s hard not to imagine a much smaller high end industry in 5 to 10 years.

Not enough customers and far too many companies and products.
