KEF Expands LSX II Wireless Speaker Lineup With Two New Color Options — But Is a New Paint Job Really Enough?

KEF adds two new colors to its LSX II wireless speakers, refreshing the compact hi-fi lineup — but in a price-sensitive market, is a new paint job enough?

KEF LSX II Wireless Speakers in New Colors for 2025 Amber Haze and Cotton White

The KEF LSX II has been a cornerstone of the brand’s compact wireless ecosystem since its 2022 launch, anchoring a lineup that now includes the LS50 Wireless II, the Coda W, and the wallet-friendlier LSX II LT. Designed by Michael Young in collaboration with KEF’s Product Design Team, the LSX II quickly carved out its own identity — a small, stylish, full-featured wireless speaker system that delivers real hi-fi credibility in spaces where a pair of floorstanders just isn’t happening. With KEF now adding two new color options, the LSX II continues to evolve as one of the most versatile and design-forward wireless speakers in its class.

Alongside its core design, the LSX II has cycled through an impressive palette of finishes. The original lineup—Carbon Black, Mineral White, Cobalt Blue, Lava Red, and the Soundwave by Terence Conran Edition—set the tone, with Olive Green joining the family in mid-2024. Rolling into 2026, KEF is refreshing the series with two new additions: Amber Haze and Cotton White, both aimed at giving buyers more flexibility to match modern interiors without sacrificing the LSX II’s visual punch.

With the latest update, the LSX II is now available in Amber Haze, Cotton White, Carbon Black, and the Soundwave by Terence Conran finish, streamlining the lineup while keeping enough variety to fit everything from minimalist lofts to color-forward living rooms.

KEF LSX II Rundown

The LSX II is a true two-box wireless powered speaker system — no external amplifier, stereo receiver, or home theater gear required. All physical inputs live on the primary speaker, which handles source connections and processing. From there, the audio signal is sent to the secondary speaker over a wired Ethernet link to ensure stability, proper synchronization, and full-resolution performance.

Each speaker is built around KEF’s 11th-generation Uni-Q driver array, pairing a 19mm (0.75-inch) aluminum dome tweeter with a 115mm (4.5-inch) magnesium/aluminum alloy mid-bass cone. That coaxial design allows the LSX II to deliver a more focused, cohesive soundstage from a compact footprint — still the signature advantage of KEF’s Uni-Q platform.

Music Integrity Engine: KEF’s proprietary DSP suite analyzes and corrects timing and phase irregularities, letting the Uni-Q array behave as a single, coherent point source. The result is cleaner imaging, tighter transient response, and fewer sonic artifacts — exactly what compact wireless speakers usually struggle to deliver.

Power Output: The LSX II delivers 200 watts of total system power, with dedicated amplifiers for both the tweeter and woofer in each speaker. A rear-mounted port on every cabinet helps extend low-frequency performance, giving the LSX II more punch than its size suggests.

Subwoofer Output: A subwoofer pre-out on the primary speaker makes it easy to expand the system with an external sub. Any powered subwoofer will work, but KEF naturally recommends its KC62 — a compact, room-friendly option that pairs well with the LSX II’s footprint.

Network: The system connects to your home network via dual-band Wi-Fi or a hardwired Ethernet link for maximum stability.

Music Streaming Sources: The LSX II supports Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL, and is fully Roon Ready. Hi-res formats are on the menu as well, with PCM up to 24-bit/384kHz, DSD, and MQA playback supported.

App Control: KEF’s Connect app (iOS, Android) provides access to Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, and TuneIn, as well as providing source selection and EQ setting options.

Physical Connectivity: Beyond its wireless streaming chops, the LSX II offers a solid set of physical inputs: HDMI ARC, digital optical, 3.5mm stereo, and USB-C. That means you can hook it directly to a TV, CD/DVD/Blu-ray player, game console, media streamer, or computer without extra hardware. Turntables are also welcome — just remember that most models will require an external phono preamp before feeding the LSX II’s analog input.

The Bottom Line

In a market where tariffs have turned every price tag into a stress test, KEF isn’t competing in a vacuum anymore. Upstarts like WiiM are dropping sub-$300 wireless speakers loaded with modern platform support, slick apps, and the kind of room-friendly features that used to belong exclusively to premium brands. That puts pressure on companies like KEF to justify the premium — not just with great sound, but with the software ecosystem and everyday usability buyers now expect.

The LSX II still earns its keep. Its sonic performance is on a different tier from the budget contenders, thanks to the Uni-Q array, real amplification, and KEF’s DSP engine. But consumers are increasingly weighing that advantage against platform flexibility, room correction tools, and long-term support — the areas where the next round of competition will get ugly. KEF’s new colors help keep the LSX II visually relevant, but the product’s real value continues to rest on what it does best: delivering legitimate hi-fi in a compact wireless system at a time when “good enough” is getting cheaper by the month.

Price & Availability

KEF LSX II Wireless Speakers are available for $1,499 at Amazon and Crutchfield in various colors, which are all priced the same.

While the new color is attractive, Costco is selling the LSX 2 LT for $499.

For my money, I bought the white version, with enough left over to buy two additional pairs.

    Ian,

You’re correct, it’s a great deal. The question is why would anyone buy the 2s over the LTs for triple the price.

For $1500 it’s possible to assemble a better sounding system.

      Larry,

I was smart to buy the LSX II at launch at the original price and have been using ever since, but I would have to agree with you that one could build a far superior sounding system for $500 less. The column is coming.
