Local dealers are offering $160 for the receiver and $20 per month subscription.

If i buy the receiver online, i could get the whole package (receiver + 1 yr subscription) for under $200.
Not sure which one is reliable...who to go with

Bhaumik Modi........In my opinion your safe bet would be
a monthly subscription. $20.00 per month = $240.00 per year
if they last a year

You say.....whole package (receiver + 1 yr subscription) for under $200.

it don't make sense, why would they take less then $200.00
now for the whole package when
a year from now they could collect $400.00
maybe they are not planning to be here a year

IKS is not my bag

My neighbor does a Sub_sharing with a friend
I let him park his boat on my property
so he got me an extra receiver at no charge
as lone as he can park his boat on my property.

Bhaumik.
In general, you will find that the established IKS services charge a lot more than some of the newer ones. In Toronto, I am told, that people have bought a Drembox at $350 and are paying something like $35.
They have been up and running without the slightest interuption for the past 6 months or longer.
I mention this, because there are cheaper services which offer for less and you get interuptions. Another problem is the reliability of the person or site which is selling the product to you. In the current market, and in a strict reply to your query, I would say buy the receiver separately from a reliable dealer, and pay $20 per month for the service.
Rely on sada to give good advice and Captain Hook to always interupt with nonsense.

NALIN .. why not let the member decide who is giving out good advice rather than giving you own opinion on who to listen to or not. From what I have been reading, your opinion isn't that credible. SO STFU NALIN

Doreen: I only said: Rely on sada to give good advice and Captain Hook to always interupt with nonsense."
You say "and he is doing the same to me."
I did not comment on any lack of ability on your part. There are a lot of people in the computer section of this forum who rely on your help. Never once have I commented against about your ability in computing and helping with Torrent and similar cheap downloads of good and costly software. Keep it up lass, as the Scotish would say. There are a lot of Highlanders waiting in the computer section to pipe you in with Scotish Bagpipes.

Just a statement of what Captain Hook always does.
Nothing about you Doreen, unless YOU are posting in the name of Captain Hook - are you?

I certainly do not love you, in the social or any sense.
That does not mean that I hate you. English is a very good language. You should learn more of it to understand the nuances.
Don't start with Shakespeare or even Charles Dickens.
Start with "Pride and Prejudice" by jane Austen, then watch the movie.

is that uses iks as well??
or u need to connect it to computer ..(carshare etc)
to make it work..
well if u pay $ 20 / month and buy a reciever for $ 200..

sada: Just as in any other consumer product, there are different price levels and price structures. This particular expensive Dreambox service I posted about ($350 + 35/mo) is said to be only available from this one person, who adverises by "word of mouth" and excellent service. I don't have it - I don;t have any IKS service.
"why not get a friend or two and get subsharing or is it expensive" - You can do it using Linux (such as Ubuntu) and a bit of know how and x-dongles. You can buy x-dongles from alibaba.com.
Also look at the description of this product from them

I have no clue about subsharing...but seems interesting, something I wouldn't mind doing as long as it is reliable.
Little more info would definitely help...

bhaumuka in simple lets say u live in canada..
u order bell reciever.. u say that u need extra reciever for ur other rooom.. u can take the reciever and give it to ur freind all he needs to do is plug in to tv..and using sat dishes ( lets assume he already installed ) on roof he will be able to watch tv programs.. ( beLL channels the one u order..) ..
and bell wont' notice it ..and ur channels will never go down..
its a legal subcription and u can ask ur freind to give u money ..
and u can share the cost..

So, based on all your comments, I went with local dealer with monthly subscription.
Few issue's with dreambox I have noticed so far (none are showstoppers);
1. No component input (picture quality not as great)
2. Cannot add channels to favourite (may be I don't know how to)
