Why don't I get any video image from a used digital reciver

I just recently bought a second hand shaw digital TV reciver. when I hook it up , I couldn't get any sound or visual? Is there a way to reset the reciver?

You may want t check if he receiver is set for channel 3 or 4 output and check the channel on your tv
