Mits 48613 & DirecTV

I just purchased a new Mitsubishi WS-48613. The problem is that my older DirecTV (DRD222RD) receiver, input via an s-video cable, looks terrible. Also, I cannot get it to display in the "Cinema" mode of 16:9. Any suggestions on either?
