Need your Advice: I want to Copy VHS Tapes from Current VCR to a New DVD Recorder

Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to transfer VHS tapes from my VCR (Toshiba 6 head SQPB) to a seperate DVD Recorder. I currently don't own a DVD recorder but would like to purchase one. I am looking at the VCR/DVD Recorder combos and wonder if I have to buy all this to do the job. I have home VHS tapes that I would like to transfer to DVD's. I also have a seperate DVD player. If I can buy just a DVD recorder can you suggest a brand and model. I am willing to buy a quality model. If I have to buy the combo, please offer you suggestions. Please email me with your suggestions at: ashatter@twmi.rr.com

Stay away from combos. Most people that have Pioneer recorders seem to be happy with them. I've read posts saying they stop recording sometimes when doing VHS though. I've used Panasonic, JVC and Toshiba, I like the Toshiba best.
