RCA - screen problems - can it be replaced?

We have a 46" RCA. It was purchased in 1999, so it's a few years old.
Our screen has a black spot on it - it looks like a squished bug behind the screen. There is also a drip mark from something being spilt on it. Can these screens be replaced? How easy/hard is it? Does it have to be done by a repairman? I've looked on the RCA website and they have no information on my model anymore.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have an RCA Scienum and with my TV you can remove the screen protector and clean the inside part of it. It dont come off like the older one that just snapped on you have to take out a whole bunch of screws on the back just around when the screen comes out. you can also clean the mirror back in there with glass cleaner. Regular glass cleaner NO AMONIA or any other harsh chemicals. My RCA service center showed my how to do it and save a bunch of money in the process. Hope this helps.
