CRT Rear-Projection and HDTV Signals

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a new big-screen TV this year and have a question. I really like the Samsung HCN5529 but was wondering if all CRT rear-projection TV's can ONLY SHOW 1080i signals.

What i mean by this is, why do some TV's have input for 720p and some don't? Do TV's only display 1080i and upconvert all other signals? Or can they show more than one signal?

What is the difference between having a TV which has INPUTS for 1080i, 480p and 480i vs having one with 1080i, 480p and 480i AND 720p?

I'm trying to find a CRT TV that has a native resolution of 720p if one exists. I know DLP, LCD and Plasma have 720p but they are expensive (+$4500 Canadian) I would greatly appreciate it if somebody could answer this question.
After reading these questions you can tell I'm one confuse dude.
