DVI vs Component Hookup for Analog TV signal.. HELP!!

I have recently purchased a Sony 46" HDTV (CRT) and have Direct TV HD. It is currently connected using the Component cables and the HD shows look fantastic, but the non- HD shows not so good. Will using a DVI to HDMI cable (my Samsung HD box has DVI out and my TV has HDMI in) improve my picture at all on the non-hd channels?
