DTS problems with Panasonic DVD-F85S and Onkyo 650

I have an Onkyo 650 home theater system and a Panasonic DVD-F85S five-disc DVD player. I recently tried to watch Pirates of the Carribbean in DTS sound and when the movie started, the speakers made a short, loud buzz sound and the receiver switched over to Pro Logic II. I restarted the DVD and selected DTS again and the same thing happened. I've tried a few other DTS discs and, while I don't get the buzz sound, it still switches to Pro Logic II. I'm using an optical cable to go from the DVD player to the audio receiver. I don't imagine there's a problem with the cable since I can hear DD5.1 soundtracks without any problems. I checked the digital input selection and looks like that's all set up correctly. However, I can't be certain I don't have some other audio setting screwed up.

Any advice?

check if the DTS output is set up properly on your dvd player. Dolby Digital is on by default but DTS is usually not and it has to be activated by using the set-up menu
