I'm looking to buy a large amount of speaker wire, but am not sure as to what gauge I should look for. Is 'out-of-the-box' speaker wire around 20 gauge? If so, this means, for better quality sound, I should look for 18 or 16 (maybe larger) gauge wire? Thanks for your help.
out of the box might be 20 guage at the largest. Someone on here said they called Onkyo about the wire that came with their HT-S770 HTIB and the rep told him it was 24 guage. I agree with Berny, you will want larger wires for optimal sound. the more power you are running the larger the guage you should need. I use 16 guage with my system and it sounds great. you coudn't go wrong with the 12 or 14. Good Luck
