I have an Onkyo Ht-SP904. I'm connected by HDMI to my HD TV - all works great. But I cant figure out how to get surround sound off of cable programming through the receiver.
I have my TV cable running directly to the TV because I'm not using a cable box. Receiver connects to TV via HDMI. Surround works fine with DVDs, but sound from cable is only through the TV, of course.

I need to know if I should be running audio back from the TV to the receiver and how I would do that and get surround.

I do have an older cable box, but wasn't planning to use it and it only has coax and RCA outputs - no svideo, digigal, optical, etc.

Whats the best way to get surround audio for cable programs?

Thanks

Connect the digital audio output on the TV to the receiver.
